Worried about work

And really hoping someone on here can calm me down and tell me it's okay / not worth it!

Feeling physically sick, panicky, upset. Worrying all the time about my performance and whether or not I'll fuck something up. I'm having therapy for an anxiety disorder but it's not touching the sides unfortunately.

I feel absolutely dreadful. I don't think I'll ever find peace or happiness. It's so hard to be positive.

Is there anybody you can talk to who is good at understanding work situations? Who can give you a reality check about the things that are troubling you?

LostittoBostik · 25/02/2024 19:23

Have you always felt this way about work or is it a specific job you're in now?

ItsMostProbablyMe · 25/02/2024 19:35

I've always been nervous at work in certain situations but it's so much worse in this job (been there one year). The thought of going back on the search is so exhausting though, I feel like I should just accept feeling this way forever.

Have you considered taking medication for your anxiety? This is no way to live, you sound exhausted Flowers

What are you so afraid of? Have you made any mistakes? Have you been told you’re not performing?
it sounds like you’re putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Have you spoken to your manager about the anxiety? They may be able to offer you some support.

Take things slow to minimise errors, take some deep breaths and tell yourself you have got this! Also maybe speak to your gp about the fact the therapy is not helping and see what else they can suggest.

I am exhausted. I go to sleep at 7pm wake up at 6am and I'm still exhausted. I really don't want to start taking medication. It's a slippery slope.

Might you be perimenopausal? I found my anxiety went through the roof until I started HRT and stopped drinking alcohol.

Do you have occupational health at work? If so they will be able to help with recommendations to make work more manageable. Employers have a duty of care to make reasonable adjustments for health conditions

I may well be perimenopausal I'm going for a blood test soon to find out. I really don't want to keep feeling so bleak all the time. It's such a dark feeling.
