I've no idea what to do with ds. He's almost 12 and for as long as he's been able to tell me, he has absolutely no tolerance for being physically uncomfortable. A paper cut is like an amputation. Grit in his shoe is a jagged rock. A stitch is a gaping wound. A warm shower might boils him alive. He's neurotypical but anxious. We manage things for him, maybe too much? (Taking labels out of clothes, etc) He's recently completed a 12 sessions with an adolescent psychotherapist for his anxiety and nothing was flagged.
It's come to a head for me as he and I have just started the couch to 5 k together and he hasn't managed to complete a single one of the 1.5 minute runs today due to a niggle in his knee, his shoe lace "feeling funny" and the stitch that nearly killed him.
Any ideas how to help him cope better? Clearly my usual acknowledge but don't wallow isn't working 😔
