Do these 2 curtains look a similar colour?

What would you categorise it as?

The name of one of them is putting me off ordering.

I've sent 2 pairs back as they look nothing like on screen!

The first one looks like it might be a rather brighter pink than the deep rose/plum (?) you are looking for. The second one looks like it might have a bluish tinge, so no, I don't think they look the same at all.

Are you wondering if it’s the same curtain sold by different shops? I don’t think so as the construction of the header looks slightly different.

I think the colours are very similar though. But the photos could be edited/enhanced so you’ve got no chance of knowing what the real colour is. I’d say raspberry or deep orchid if I had to name the colour

No,

I know they're different. One is John Lewis. One is La Redoute.

Fell in love with the JL ones but size not available and much, much more expensive. So was hoping the LaR ones would be a similar dupe.

The JL ones are called 'Damson'

The LaR ones are called 'Burgundy /wine' which is throwing me off as they look deep pink (which is what I want!)

The second one I think looks more plumby.

I have this lampshade which I can't get a good pic of without natural light.
But that's what I'm aiming for

I'm not sure either would be a great match, but I would say 1 is closer

Damson to me sounds like the expectation is pinky/plummy colour.

Burgundy/wine sounds like it may be more red.

This is what I hate about online shopping. No idea what the real colours are actually like.

If you are in the market for really well made curtains at a much more reasonable price than having them made to measure, I swear by the TwoPages ones on Amazon. (Not sure if they are available in the U.K. though - worth a look. Full disclosure they are made in China) The best part is though you can buy the sample fabric books and the colours of the ones that arrive are exactly as per the sample. I’ve checked the sample books I have and there are multiple shades in the plum/burgandy/wine colours but it’s linen, not velvet. They do have velvet fabric available, I’ve just gone for linen.

If they look interesting to you, and you want more info, I can give you some pointers as I’ve ordered them before. No affiliation, just a fan of the product.

The lampshade doesn't look like those photos in real life, it's so hard to get true photos of colours.
