Is it an easy process? Currently still on tax credits but need to change over to UC in the near future!
back story! DH earns just over 30 grand a year before tax, I am a SAHP/carer currently not in employment, with two DC with SEN, both dc get middle rate care and low rate mobility, I get carers allowance! Currently get £150 a week tax credits!
anyway, money is tight. We own our own home and it is a never ending drain of our finances as well as owning 2 cars.
we will really struggle between tax credits and universal credit if it takes weeks!
a couple people have mentioned the advance payment? Is it easy to apply for and what is the pay back rate? Does it vary?
is the whole application for UC itself easy?
if DH did overtime this month would it effect anything with tax credits when we change over (worried we might have to pay some back) or the Uc claim?
sorry if it sounds silly, in a complete newbie to UC. I did make sure I put the COL payment aside as a back up for the gap!
