Co-op Live Manchester parking

I'm meant to be going to a concert here in June but the parking situation is a problem. I wasn't familiar with that part of Manchester so assumed there would be carparks near the arena, however there aren't any other than at the Ethiad Stadium. Is anyone else planning on going to a concert here, and if so, where will you park? Are we allowed to use the Ethiad carpark? I don't really fancy being one of thousands all trying to exit at the same time. I also do not want to park in the city and walk/use public transport as it's not going to be safe late at night.

Just had a look at the website and you're encouraged not to drive. It's a 30 minute walk from Piccadilly or you can park and ride and use the Metrolink or get the bus.

I disagree with you on safety btw. Thousands of people walk to the stadium or use public transport. When there's a big event there will be a big security and policy presence and lots of people who've been at the same event around.

Is it near the Etihad stadium? Whenever we go for the football we park at Ladywell and get the tram. It's not within the city centre, I wouldn't say it's unsafe. I'm sure there are other tram stations that have good parking depending on which way you're coming from.

i was at the coop live arena last night and oh my, what a nightmare!! They encourage you to use public transport… I was with my disabled mum and the queue for the metro link was over an hour long! Thankfully the coop live stewards saw my disabled mum and fast tracked us on a tram! However, it still took us an hour to get out of coop live arena to centre of Manchester!

I’m going again on Tuesday with my daughter and now rethinking my travel plans!

Of course it's safe at night. It's Manchester, not Baghdad.

Can you get the train to Manchester? Do that and then get a tram.

Absolutely no way get the Metrolink! We went last week and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get the Metrolink from Piccadilly. We queued for ages and every tram was full and it took ages to get on. When we did - I'd never been as squashed in my life. I literally could not move. I couldn't even move my arms up. It was so unsafe. Thankfully it was a quick journey.
When we came out - the queue to get on the Metrolink was the biggest queue I'd ever seen in my life. We decided to walk back. It's a 40 min walk to Piccadilly.
If I ever go again, I would rather park, even if there is a queue to get out at least you are sat in your car. Lots of people were picking up Ubers on the main road outside, which they had obviously prebooked. Personally I would look on Just Park and try and park on a drive, but I think you would have to do that earlier..we left it too late.

I’ve not been to the Coop live yet (but going in a few weeks) but I do go to Man City matches quite frequently.

  1. the car parks are good. Well stewarded. Closest responsible option for parking.
  2. don’t try to park in streets around the stadium. They’re all permit only and it’s well policed.
  3. some locals have their drives on Just Park so that’s worth a look. You can sometimes book spaces in the Asda car park there too.
  4. walking / public transport not safe? With thousands of other fans?! Er?

I’ll be doing option 4. If the queue isn’t too long I’ll get Metrolink or a bus. If it is, I’ll walk back to the city centre.

I’ve just booked a place via just park for Tuesday. It’s an old school apparently about 4 minutes walk!

PauliesWalnuts · 09/06/2024 16:28

It’s a short walk away but there is usually parking at the National Cycling Centre if you get there early enough.
