Mystery shopping

Does anyone have any recommendations for a mystery shopping company? I'm interested in becoming one just as a little sideline.
I'd love to hear from anyone who's done mystery shopping, any downsides? Thanks!

I have been mystery shopping for about 14 years. I use Ishopforipsos, Proinsight, ESA, Grass Roots, Market Force and Tern.

Positives - it's very varied, you can pick and choose the assignments you want to do and some are digital/phone assessments that you can do from home.

Negatives - you won't make a fortune. I make around £100 per month from about 10 assignments per month. You can make more if you video or audio record your conversations, and there will be more opportunities if you live in a big city. Some assignments are more involved than others, eg buying something and returning it, some need credit checks etc. Also bear in mind you don't get paid if you do the assignment incorrectly so make sure you read the instructions properly! This is especially relevant if you have to buy something and wait for the company to reimburse you as you will lose out.

Don't forget if you make more than £1000 pa you will need to do a tax return.
