Neon pod diffuser or similar - idiots guide

Right. Ive wanted one of these for a few years but I find them confusing. So please can you give me an idiots guide to them.

What do you put in it - is it water and a scented oil? Does it make you room smell Like a spa?

Which oils do you use?

Is there a cheaper alternative?

How big an area does it fill.

I finally bought the neom one, I love it. Have had a few cheaper models that also made the room smell nice but leaked and splashed. The oils are def better quality with neom and smell better for longer than cheaper oils I have used. The neom lux that I have has a ceramic top on it rather than plastic like some cheaper models. It was an investment as such but I am very happy with it! The oils go on sale a lot so I try not to buy full price but I am definitely a convert now!

Yummymummy2020 · 24/02/2024 09:47

It fills a big area also if you use extra oil, we have open plan and it is great!

The Neom ones are an absolute rip off! You’re paying for the name.
I have one from Oliver Bonas that’s in my bedroom, and another one from Amazon in the lounge. The Amazon one lights up - I leave it on white light rather than the awful colour changing sequence.
I buy decent quality oils from various places. You fill them with water, add a few drops of your favourite oil and switch it on.

You’ve bought into the hype. The oils are just bog standard oils that are manufactured at a factory near me - they also manufacture oils for lots of other brands in exactly the same way using exactly the same ingredients. Save your money and shop around for cheaper but equally as good oils.

I had a cheaply one from Amazon which DS1 replaced with Neom one. It’s so much better. It looks much nicer in the room and the scents of the oils are more pleasant. When we’ve decorated our bedroom I’m going to get one for in there too.

KindleGirlie · 24/02/2024 10:02

get it from eBay or TK MAXX. So much cheaper.

what I do like is when I have a cold I put it on my bedside table without oils just water and it moistens my nose and throat. Worth it for that alone tbh

NewDogOwner · 24/02/2024 10:05

The oils are expensive but good. Your house smells like an expensive spa.

Pnlolly · 24/02/2024 17:48

I love mine! But a cheapie from amazon, with Neom oil works just as well.

It's the oil that makes it so lush. And yes fills a big space!

D20 · 24/02/2024 18:26

I have a cheapy water one from Amazon and a Neom travel diffuser (the one that looks like a can of pop). I much prefer the travel because it just diffuses oil not water. I’ve used other oils in it just fine.

Whatsupduc · 24/02/2024 18:33

I’ve stopped using them as they make my breathing crackly. Don’t know what to do about that.

Pushkinini · 24/02/2024 18:37

I bought a Tisserand one from Amazon which was a darn sight cheaper than the Neom one. I use the Tisserand oils from Amazon as well. Most are between £5 and £10 and last ages.

DD20 has an Oliver Bonas one and it fills her large bedroom. She uses any essential oil.

Lessthanaday · 24/02/2024 18:45

I have a Neom mini electric, Neom well being pod and a couple of cheap ones from Amazon. The Amazon ones work as well as the Neom pod.

I hate the Neom oils, I think they smell smell cheap and tacky.I prefer to buy them from ID Aromatics in Leeds but also like the Tisserand ones.

43ontherocksporfavor · 24/02/2024 18:52

Always best to use pure essential oils which can be bought anywhere.

DillDanding · 24/02/2024 19:05

We have the Neom one. I have several of the Neom oils, but I actually prefer White Company ones, so generally use them. About 10 drops.

Alchemistress · 24/02/2024 19:23

I have a White Company one ( I know! But it was a present and it looks lovely).

Subsequently I use any old oils in it. I also use it as a humidifier without oils when I have a cold or the heating has been on too much and my skin feels cracky

43ontherocksporfavor · 24/02/2024 19:34

I also have a good old candle with water/oil dish above. Nice but not as spa like as the electric ones.

BeaLola · 24/02/2024 19:51

I have the mini Neom which I like as it's so portable and easy to use - I use at work.

I use the Aromatherapy Associates (AA) oils as I prefer them. I also have the 2 AA diffusers - love them both.

Expo23 · 05/04/2024 10:02

Does anyone struggle with keeping their Neom clean and have any advice? In that, it looks clean as the ceramic cover is easy to clean. However, the plastic top that is underneath, I just can't keep that clean. It looks mouldy, like it's had standing water on it. I regularly clean it out, use cotton buds, little brushes for straws but I can't keep it looking white round the top bit where the steam comes out. The best I can get it is from murky brown to light brown. I only use the Neom oils in it. I know it can't be seen, but I know it is there! Any suggestions?

Also, I love the travel one! I have a few of them but I have the bigger one for my bedroom as it has a milder throw so I can have it on before (and during) sleep.

Thank you (in anticipation!)

I bought one of these recently but haven't set it up yet. Is it easy to do?
