Second babies, were yours heavier or born earlier?

Currently 38+5 and my baby is already estimated to be over 8lb 😬

My first was born at 38+3 (failed induction, EMCS) and was 7lb 5.

In your experiences, did yours weigh more/less than your first and when were they born?

Scans can be inaccurate.. good luck op! Babies are awkward when they want to be- - 1st two labours were both 12 hours despite being very different births - 3rd was 21 hours!

1. due date/6lb 9oz/flew out
2. 12 days overdue/8lb 13oz/induced & back to back

My first was 8 days late and 7lbs 5oz
My second was 2 weeks early (thank the lord!) And 8lbs 1oz

Both labours were smooth running.

40+1 8lb 2

39+5 7lb 0

DS1 - 37+5 - 6lb 5oz
DS2 - 38+2 - 6lb

DS born at 41+5 weighing 10lb 8oz

DD born at 34+2 weighing 5lb 5oz

Dd born two weeks early 5ib 1 oz

Ds born 4 weeks early 5ib 4 and a half oz

Ds1 was my second, 9lb 9.5oz born around 38+5 i think. He was certainly heavier and earlier than my first, I did have polyhydramnios and probably gd even though the gtt was negative. Ds2 was 8lb 9oz at about the same gestation, but I was diagnosed with gd with him and was on insulin for ages.

Dd was 7lb 13oz 7 days overdue. (first baby)

Ds2 was a few hours later, probably had 4 extra hours of uterine comfort, and I think about 4 ounces lighter? I remember saying he felt like a polystyrene brick. Both spontaneous labours at 39+4.

Second was born 3 days later and one pound lighter!

Mine got progressively heavier, but each birth was easier than the last. All boys, not that it matters but they tend to be bigger. All spontaneous labours, natural deliveries.

DC1 39+2 a dainty 6lb 11oz
DC2 40+5 8lb exactly
DC3 39+2 8lb 6oz

Sometimes (rarely!) I wish I'd had a fourth to see if the pattern re dates continued. That five days past due date with DC2 was the longest of my life.

My second was later and lighter (and smaller).

Son1 39+1 - 9lb 14oz
Son2 42+0- 9lb 14oz

If you want to compare babies born a different gestations, then you need to be comparing percentiles, not the actual weight.

1st born 36+3 wks, weighed 6.1lbs
2nd born 36+2 wks weighed 6.6lbs
both girls and both spontaneous labour.

DC1 - 4 days late 7.4lbs
DC2 - 8 days late 8.7lbs

DS1 - 7+lbs and 15 days late

DS2 - 9+lbs and 14 days late

DS2 was much longer and larger than DS1

#1- born a week before due date, spontaneous labour, 5lb 1oz.
#2- born 5 weeks before due date, waters went, got sepsis, proper emergency baby out NOW section, also 5lb 1oz (officially 20g heavier than DC1).

Good luck OP. From reading thread here it seems growth scans are, generally, inaccurate. Hope you're holding baby soon.

Both of my girls were 7lb 5oz but DD1 was born at 41+5 and DD2 was 38+3.

1st at 39+6 spontaneous labour
2nd at 36+6 spontaneous labour then c section

First 39+5 was 7lb 3oz
Second 39+8 8lb 15oz
