Bit scary, isn't it. I'm outside the 'zone ' on St Levens rd. Does anyone else live close?

They didn’t make a mess of the Exeter bomb. The Exeter bomb was bigger for starters and luckily discovered on a building site so a lesser build up area. It’s a huge risk to move the bomb - it’s going to be very unstable and think of all the pot holes…

I think there’s a fair number of people still trying to deal with the consequences of that explosion that might disagree with the view they didn’t mess it up.

I'm near Central Park so away from the danger zone, but near enough to have felt anxious - and very pleased indeed it appears to be a very satisfactory outcome.
Well done those involved - all of them.

I feel the same. Not an easy thing for some to just up and leave their homes. Sounds like the poor maid only just moved into her house. Hopefully, they can get the bomb moved safely.

Some people have refused to leave their homes!

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER we are near the SW London one. We lived about 1/2 a mile away at the time and when it went off all the windows shook. Hilariously it had been buried under a function room with a dance floor above it for 75 years!

I remember one back in the 1970s was found near the railway line that ran close to the runway at Filton in Bristol. (This would have been during the years that concorde was being built).
The police came around in a patrol car using a loud hailer telling everyone to either move outside or away from windows. A bit difficult when every house on the estate had large windows back and front (60s houses). Dad was unending mattresses and used them to cover the glass.
