I thought it was drinking cocktails that had suddenly stopped me sleeping which I kinda understand with the sugar content from the syrup but I had 3 gins last last and tossed and turned all frigging night.

So tired.

Alcohol disturbs sleep. It’s a well known side effect.

Alcohol sends me to sleep but doesn’t keep me asleep. Three or four hours deep sleep and then I’m awake usually hot and sweaty. Poor sleep quality persuaded me to rarely drink at all.

Alcohol has always affected my sleep. Even in my young years.

It's the alcohol - the poison, the chemical itself - that disturbs sleep.

Now I’ve stopped drinking for a few years, I feel dreadful if I even have one drink on a special occasion. My body just feels poisoned and I wonder how I didn’t realise how awful it is for me when I drank regularly. I don’t miss it all anymore. I do recommend stopping if you can.

All alcohol has sugars plus there may be some in the tonic. But as you get older I think you do get more sensitive to it and previously ‘safe’ drinks rule themselves out.

It definitely affects your sleep. Just a large glass of wine is enough to give me a restless night. I just don't drink on school days anymore as I can't be arsed with being tired now I'm old.

This happened to me! I was never a massive drinker but now just one and I notice the disruption to my sleep.

This has started happening to me since turning 40, if I drink more than a bottle of wine 😢
I'll fall into a deep sleep for 2/3 hours then wake up and feel so restless for the remainder of the night. I have definitely trying to curb what I drink now. 😞
