I work in the food industry and I’m really fed up that I cannot have my nails anymore I look like I have man hands now …long story short my old boss let me have them my new boss won’t but she wears them it’s not right I’ve worked here for 24 years

Eh? I have always had short nails (long nails gross me out) and I definitely do not have "man hands".

I can understand why people in food are required to have short nails.

Just shape your nails nicely, keep them clean and add a lick of neutral paint.

We are not allowed neutral paint and the constant washing of hands makes them weak and break ….eh I said my hands

You’ve got two options really, suck it up or get a new job. The fact your old boss used to allow it is irrelevant unfortunately for you!

My point is it’s in the hand book for everyone not to have them that includes my boss …I’m aware of my options

You can get creams and treaments to strengthen nails.

A lot of jobs require short nails with no polish. No one wants a stray piece of false nail or flakes of varnish in their sandwich!

Tbh there is more chance of my own nails breaking off into food than acrylics I had them for 20 years no problems yet my own nails break crack and chip all the time …like I said my boss has them she’s a food handler rules apply to her too but that’s how fucked up it is …speak up and your work life will be hell…I get everything you are saying I’m just saying how I feel it’s awful not having my nails changing jobs is not an option so yes I have to SUCK it up
