I remember back in the day (when I was social) Friday nights used to be my favourite. The butterfly's in my belly all day at work watching the clock tick. Takeaway on my way home and start getting ready at about 7pm. Get dressed up to the 99s and meet up with my friends for a few in our local before hitting the city for the bars and nightclubs ( nightclubs! Are they even still a thing? Apparently not according to my dd) Dancing until 3am before grabbing a dirty kebab and taxi home. Get in bed, head spinning with sick bucket next to you. Ahh those were the days.

Now I'm 39 and got a childless weekend and planning a cosy night in front of the tv with candles and a microwave meal 😀

What are your plans tomorrow evening/night?

Gosh never did what you described!
But I'm visiting my son who lives near the sea. Had to get up at 4.30 to get here (drive not long but only available ferry). We've already been on a nice long dog walk and out to lunch so tonight cosy night in with a movie and takeaway! My idea of heaven.

Mid-30s my nightclubbing days are mainly behind me now but do still get the friday feeling! Last Friday did still get dressed up & go to an event with a couple of friends which was fun. Tonight got another friend coming round for a takeaway & a glass of wine or 2.

My husband is cooking a roast which I am quite excited about. Then we will probably go to bed and watch the snooker on the TV in our bedroom. Maybe have sex too - who knows?

I am in fact having a night similar to the one you describe in your OP tomorrow however - going with some friends to see a tribute band at a local social club. I am teetotal so won't get drunk (my friends will!) But other than that it will be similar to the night you describe I imagine! Getting dressed up is the bit that excites me most! I am mid 40s.....

TV and a bag of fizzy Percy pigs
It's been a long time since my clubbing days Grin

Drink lots of red wine with dh and snacking

15 years ago pre kids now DH and I would go out in Manchester after work. We lived in a flat in the city and only "go for a couple" with friends and roll in at about midnight still dressed in work things. Lazy Saturday would follow.

Tonight the highlight is having a chippy dinner and seeing how early we can get the kids to bed in order to squeeze some series episodes in before we both start snoring on the sofa knowing we'll be up at 8am to get ready to take DS1 to footy. Sigh.

Weekends always seemed longer when you went out on a Friday too.

Roaminginthegloaming · 23/02/2024 17:12

My clubbing days are a distant memory.

But….this particular Friday night I’m very excited: we’ve just checked into an hotel at Heathrow Terminal 2 and flying off to Singapore tomorrow morning.

We’ll be away for a month and going to Vietnam too. :)

TeeNoG · 23/02/2024 17:13

I've bought a big scone to eat whilst I watch TV and am buzzing for it.

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 23/02/2024 17:16

Oh OP this has made me pine for my old social life! Instead my husband and I are ordering an Indian takeaway and will be continuing to watch Dark on Netflix (brilliant series) and then I’ll be going straight to bed! Had a really full on week with my son activity wise and he’ll have us up at 7am tomorrow! Getting my nails done tomorrow though as a treat so I might spend a few minutes deciding which colour to go for (inevitably red or nude 🤷‍♀️)

weegiemum · 23/02/2024 17:41

No idea!

Dd1 is working, as is her dp (they're living with us while they are buying a flat hopefully soon
Ds is working
Dd2 is going to her boyfriends this evening but will be back later.

Dh and I are making a flying visit to see his (divorced) parents leaving early tomorrow morning. It's a 5 hour journey involving a ferry. Need to check in on DFil who is now extremely demented and won't know us at all, and visit DMil who has just moved in to an apartment in a retirement complex and desperate to show off her new abode. Coming home tomorrow teatime!

So tonight will probably be an easy tea and an early night. Probably room for a glass or two of wine too!

If I didn’t have to contend with a toddler tomorrow morning I’d love to go out clubbing!! Clubbing is still alive here in London.

This weekend I'm recovering from having a busy weekend last weekend. Last Friday drove to Manchester to see a band and then drove to Liverpool on Saturday to see another band. Now recovering from the horrible virus I picked up being surrounded by 100's of people. I'm glad to be in bed with a lemsip.
