A toddler can get the stickers off the sticker sheet by themselves if you peel off alk the negative space first. This has sometimes bought me enough time for a cup of tea.

😯

Genius!

Some of the more expensive purchases that definitely have made my life easier

  1. my air fryer with two baskets
  2. grill with multiple plates like waffle plates so I don’t need a separate waffle maker
  3. dehumidifier to fight mould
  4. heated clothes rack
  5. shark vacuum cleaner

Cheaper one - tablecloths on shein that are ‘waterproof’ not plastic looking but they don’t stain! I don’t like to support fast fashion but I can’t find them anywhere else.

Do you have a link for the tablecloths? Sound exactly like what I'm looking for

I got sick of looking for herbs and spices so lay them all in a drawer instead of them being in the cupboard

I've got a metal spice rack that screws on the back of a wall cupboard door. You have to juggle the position so that the jar is either above or below a shelf. They come in different widths and heights to suit your doors and the number of jars.

At the end of the last thread a couple of posters were talking about sorting out charger cables and tying them up. I'd like to recommend these Nite Ize reusable Gear Ties in the small 3 inch versions. They are fabulous. I found them because they were recommended by a US travel blogger for traveling and sorting out your cables before packing. They used to do them in neon colours but not sure you can still get them like that (pack of 3 in pink and green) - which is great as they are very visible. Simple idea but a great product.

Use the top of a round (Yale) door key in the trolley when I inevitably don't have £1

Magic clothes hangers. Very useful when adult DD moved back in unexpectedly!

These are such good threads!

Has anyone got a code for whistlefish please? I want to organise our stationary draws this week and order some new cards!

Utter genius, why has this not occurred to me before?!

KnittingKnewbie · 25/02/2024 22:28

I bought more teaspoons from Amazon. Sounds tiny but has been really handy to never have to faff around looking for a spoon/washing a spoon. They're always there.
And I order toilet roll and kitchen roll and nappies in bulk

Allshallbewell2021 · 25/02/2024 23:30

I got a massive sink plunger that concertinas down and is so much more effective than the old simple domed ones.

A shared family calendar has made my life much easier. We use Cozi app (my children are 12 and 16) and everything goes on it. My children used to always be asking whether they could see friends etc. and now they can look and see.
tjeres always space for meal plans, shopping lists to do lists etc.

This is the best tip posted so far. Not necessarily about the puzzles but making the stickers toddler friendly by removing the negative space. Thank you.

Do men have these kind of threads?!

Ffs does it matter? For what it's worth dh does more than me because I basically can't be bothered, his tips are great, you man hater not so much. I hope you don't have sons

spiritualawakening · 26/02/2024 08:21

@4plusus I find it really interesting that's your assumption
Tbh I asked if men have these threads as I am doubt theirs are "keep the duvet cover sets in one of the pillow case" but I bet they would make very interesting reading
Eg

Someone said in a different thread about how someone had advised her to keep her hands behind a back in corridors so that people can't hand files over 🤣

Striped Water-resistant Tablecloth With Tassel Trim I discovered amazing products on SHEIN.com, come check them out! api-shein.shein.com/h5/sharejump/appjump?link=VB3zfd2oUrJ&localcountry=GB&url_from=GM7484631202897764352 ‘Waterproof’ tablecloth@dumpling123 This is the one. There are lots of similar ones on the site search waterproof tablecloth. Some are just cotton but look similar so beware. Again if anyone has a non-shein version that would be even better. However, they are a godsend. I even let my daughter paint etc on them. They wash and dry easy too.

Quizine · 26/02/2024 10:56

Shower curtain hooks threaded on a hanger or two for hanging scarves Many other uses too I'd imagine. But I don't have much imagination!

Porridgeislife · 26/02/2024 11:06

This leggings hanger https://amzn.eu/d/fYBhBm0

and this jewellery hanger

Saves so much space in drawers and I can see all my jewellery really quickly

londonmummy1966 · 26/02/2024 11:53

THanks @Porridgeislife - I've ordered the leggings hangers for my DC - they're always complaining that they don't have enough space for clothes

I have an emergency sickness kit in my car! Admittedly it comes from being a bit anxious/phobic of vom as none of my children get travel sick but you just never know when you might need it! Just enough to do a cleanup if needed until you get home or to your destination. It contains:

  • Two cardboard sick bowls (unused and acquired when my eldest feigns illness and gets sent home clutching one!)
  • Pack of baby wipes
  • Nappy sacks
  • Small bin bag
  • Antibac hand gel

Just thinking about stuff I do that’s made my rather unorganised / last minute / flying by the seat of my pants OR hyper focused mind (probably ADHD - not being flippant but I’ve not been assessed yet)…
I bought a sellotape dispenser - can’t lose the tape now AND it’s so much easier wrapping presents.
I write birthdays and ages on the calendar AND when I need to post things or give them to people.
For my gorgeous old cat (the late great Posey) I used to count how many tablets she had and write on the calendar when they would run out. I would also write when I needed to phone the vets to get the new ones ordered. We never ran out!
I still use a paper calendar and write everything on it - so much easier to see the month.
AND my attempt at being a real, live proper adult… batch cooking (done it for years) BUT now I label it all - portion size, when it was made and (this has been a game changer) I write what the meal is! No more stewed apple defrosted instead of chicken casserole 😃 the plastic takeaway containers with lids have been brilliant for this.

These have probably all been said but I’m still proud of myself!

ADHD here too and I cannot stress how useful it is having a proper paper calendar hanging in the kitchen, with BIG spaces to write in. I tried everything else, reminders in all formats, but the ONLY one that works for me is the big paper calendar somewhere I have to look at it several times a day. Keeping a sharpie pen Blu-tacked to the wall beside it means I can write something down as soon as it occurs to me.

And you also get a cute picture which changes every month, which makes me look at it more often than if it was just the same piece of paper every day for a year (I also tried the big wall planner charts, but it turns out that I'm more likely to look at a cute picture than an enormous expanse of shiny paper).

LoctiteStuck · 26/02/2024 18:17

@Porridgeislife that jewellery hanger looks amazing. very tempted.
