Mistakes you've made (in your job)

What's some mistakes you've made in your job? Or outside of your job?

I just need reassurance. I've started a small business and I keep making mistakes. Today I've forgotten to lock a customer's door after working in their house. I'm so stressed about it.

I need some stories that show me I'm not alone!

I've been organising two training sessions for staff since Christmas - negotiated suitable dates and times with team leads to release staff, booked trainer, arranged for staff not on shift to come in as overtime. Discovered today I had forgotton to book rooms. Now there are no rooms left. I have to explain to my manager when she's back in next week.Confused

I'm an exec level leader and I've made mistakes in every job I've had.

Mistakes are essential. They are how we learn. Know that you will continue to make them. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Just be sure to own them and learn from them.

This is just what I needed to hear today, thank you. I’m going to save this on my phone to refer back to.

Gosh, loads have come back to me from my early days at work. Have learnt from them all and hopefully all the wiser for it now!

Working alone behind a till in a golf course, two guys came in and asked me to change some notes and then change them again. Was a scam and till was down at the end of the day, felt so stupid.

Dropped a credit card machine with a customer's credit card in it - a chunk of the card cracked and came away.

Created a feedback survey with a prize draw included but didn't collect entrants' details.

Dropped a load of papers in a muddy puddle on way to a meeting with someone v v senior.

Organised meeting and forgot to send invite to guest speaker. Created agenda for same meeting which was then extended and forgot to extend meeting invite in teams' calendars.

I once managed to edit a 10 page financial statement so all the tabs were left out and just10 lines of jibberish were left. The document was for a huge meeting where dozens of high ranking people were attending.

Trusting our previous SENCO to take care of the staff. The attitude of the new post holder after she left has proved that she didn't give a fuck about any of us underlings...
