Right, who stole my mojo?

Own up! I've been searching for it for a solid two years and I can't find it anywhere.

I can't be arsed doing anything. I rarely tidy or clean, the laundry is only up to date because DH does most of it, I can't be bothered putting effort into mealplanning or cooking. I'm doing the minimum to keep my job ticking over, I have no hobbies, I rarely read, I don't have friends. I mostly just surf the net. Even my Netflix history is a list of half-watched stuff; I rarely finish anything.

I need to fix the house up to put it on the market. I need to stop leaving all the day to day stuff to DH. I need to sort out my eating and lose about 7 stone. I need to engage with life again instead of just waiting for bedtime. But everything is too much effort, physically and mentally.

I was much more functional till about two years ago, when my Lexapro seemed to stop working. I didn't realise for ages, just felt like crap. My GP put me on Prozac instead but I don't feel as good as I did when the Lexapro was working. I'm half wondering if it's a perimenopause thing, as I'm 44, and I'm definitely having other issues like brain fog, forgetfulness, sleeping issues and a permanent headache. So I should probably talk to the GP again.

Is there anything else I can do? I feel like getting out and getting some exercise would make me feel better but I can't bring myself to.

I feel like each day is a chore at this stage. There's no joy left.

@OhSmitty 😆 when you’re done can I please have mine back. Thanks

susiedaisy1912 · 23/02/2024 10:21

Perimenopause and menopause are the stealers of joy, enthusiasm, and fucks to give in my experience.

I'm liking the idea of them all chilling together on a tropical island somewhere, with cocktails. I hope they come back refreshed full of beans after their holiday.

The fuckers could have at least taken us with them! Mine has been MIA for a while now and I will be furious if it's been sat on a beach all this time drinking cocktails without me Angry

OP
I too could have written your post.
Fuck all money to boot.
I know what I need to do but I can't seem to start,

I am behind on almost everything,

Lucky I too have a dh who focused on laundry and cooking and shopping else we would be fucked
I am fair fat forty something and fed up.

spiritualawakening · 23/02/2024 10:38

@OhSmitty tell us more about the pills 🙏🏻

spiritualawakening · 23/02/2024 10:39

NB my username is Brene Brown's euphemism for a nervous breakdown as that's what I feel I have been having!

Janefondashair · 23/02/2024 10:47

Another who word for word could have written this post. I am 45 and on HRT and the GP increased it around 4 months ago. Over the last couple of weeks I have started to get a little bit more motivation and I really hope it lasts. Before like the OP I was just doing the bare minimum to tick over - which is not great when you are a self employed single parent.

What little chewy sweets?

I’d forgotten about them! I think there were some chewy sweets called mojo.

Right, who stole my mojo?
Blackhairblackheart · 23/02/2024 11:20

Ive been saying this the last couple of months but i know realistically its been years.

Im on auto pilot 99% of the time.

I cant be arsed to work to my full ability, i cant be arsed to do things in the house that need doing, i cant be arsed to do anything more than bare minimum, i give zero shits about how i dress or look to boot aswell.

I cant be arsed if it wasnt clear.

I've got a mirena coil for the progesterone and Evorel Estradiol patches. I've been bleeding since christmas, but I understand that will stop eventually. I'm also starving most of the time which I need to get a handle on as I was already very overweight.

spiritualawakening · 23/02/2024 17:09

Omg since Xmas?!? Not sure I could cope with that!! I just had a 10 day period which was enough!!!

Mysterian · 23/02/2024 17:40

Mojos were from the 70s? Oh boy. I suppose I am too. 😟

I do believe that my local village shop used to sell those for a half penny each. Back when a 1/2p was smaller and thinner than a 5p is now.
This has made me feel ooooold, I was born in 1972

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 23/02/2024 20:18

I don't remember mojo sweets, but I'd certainly buy a few kilos if I could find them. They sound very useful.

Another one feeling exactly the same, mojoless! I'm had depression in the past and this lack of motivation feels very different. I'm 47 so am guessing it is perimenopause. I'm trying HRT but it doesn't seem to have made much difference so far 😕

Blakessevenrideagain · 23/02/2024 21:32

Whoever has my mojo and marbles please can I have them back, please? I appear to have mislaid both.

PeridotSparkle · 23/02/2024 21:40

Oh my lord! When you find them open, please can you ask for mine back too?

OhSmitty · 23/02/2024 09:52

I have them all. Mwaaaah 😈
After decades of floating through life, barely getting by, obese and incredibly unfit. No social life, intermittent sex life.
The big change for me happened last October when I'd reached peak fatness and signed up to a weight loss clinic. They prescribed me WL tablets to help with food noise that also boosted energy. My god, that first week I'd scrubbed the whole house. 4 months later I'm jumping out of bed at 6.30 to head to the gym before work, almost 2stone down. Who even am I?

Um, is this a legal substance? Asking for a friend

Um, is this a legal substance? Asking for a friend

It's legally prescribed by a clinician in a CQC private weight loss clinic. NHS patients do get referred there for a discounted price I think. They also do Wegovy injections but they are 3x the price.

Kazzy50 · 24/02/2024 18:13

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername @Threewheeler1 Couldn't agree more with what you said. I'm 49 and feel the same. I'm also perimenopausal-wondering about hrt as I have loads of symptoms. Main ones being I couldn't give a shit about things that I used to. Wish I could retire and feck off somewhere in a campervan or somewhere remote like John o' Groats or Lands End!!! 😂 I'm definitely up for some fun and female company. 😀
