Milk? Yoghurt?
Soap?

newtlover · 21/02/2024 21:11

try flooding it with milk
the chemical that makes it hot is fat soluble I believe

Oooh ow. Poor you. Dip it in Cold milk? Im thinking about what would cool it in your mouth, which milk (or yoghurt) is supposed to do because chilli is soluble in fat, but not water.

Branster · 21/02/2024 21:12

No idea but apply cold yoghurt on the basis that a hot spicy food is more palatable with yoghurt.
You poor thing, I hope it feels better real soon whichever method you try.

Branster · 21/02/2024 21:13

Then maybe melted butter might also work (milk & fat together)

Branster · 21/02/2024 21:14

But not hot melted butter!

SkaneTos · 21/02/2024 21:14

No advice, a lot of sympathy!

Branster · 21/02/2024 21:14

Calamine lotion?

Branster · 21/02/2024 21:16

ALCOHOL!!!!! Do you gave any vodka?

Help ... chilli in a cut
Branster · 21/02/2024 21:17

Hand sanitizer has alcohol as well

Collywobblewobbles · 21/02/2024 21:18

I'd treat as a chemical burn, rinse under cool running water for not less than 20 minutes.

Scautish · 21/02/2024 21:23

Yogurt

PoisonMaple · 21/02/2024 21:27

White sugar and a squeeze of fairy liquid. Will hurt like anything for a few seconds, but the sugar will life the chilli out.

Curlewwoohoo · 21/02/2024 21:29

Drink the alcohol

D20 · 21/02/2024 22:17

Ouch

DyslexicPoster · 21/02/2024 22:21

If its any consulation it will pass. Bitter experience.

Shelby1981 · 21/02/2024 22:23

Oil gets chilli off, I'd gently rub on some cooking oil, then wash off with handwash

listsandbudgets · 21/02/2024 23:12

well i dipped my hand in milk, rubbed it with oil and rinsed it all off with a dash of whisky 😂

it seem to solve the problem.. now just steadily bleeding through 3rd tea towel of the evening.. dp has gone to late night chemist to get some proper dressing for it.. ouch.. reckon its delivered pizza tomorrow cooking os too risky!

Mate if it's bleeding that much you need medical help not plasters!

Glad it stopped the burning, but did you get the bleeding under control? It might need stitches?

listsandbudgets · 22/02/2024 11:07

It wouldn't stop bleeding so went to minor injuries early this morning and they've cleaned it (ouchy) steri stripped and dressed it. Usually find any wait at A&E / minor injures a huge stress but lovely nurse and in and out in 30 minutes - I think opening time at 8am is a good time to turn up. Got told off for not going to A&E last night wish I'd not been so stubborn and listened to @QuestionableMouse ... need some new tea towels too

Crikey! Sounds like more than just a nick! Hope it heals soon. And YES to pizza tonight!!

Thelightis · 22/02/2024 11:29

If you start to feel any flu type symptoms please go straight to A&E tell them about the cut in case you have sepsis

This is very unlikely but I still want to make you aware to do that just in case

Make sure they do the blood tests and give you antibiotics

Tell them the facts and leave it at that do not underplay how you feel or say oh I'm sure it's nothing. Never do that

SkaneTos · 22/02/2024 17:35

Thank you for the update, OP!
Good that they could help you at Minor Injuries.
