Mini pill - advice needed!

I went to the GP yesterday about something else and we ended up briefly discussing going on the mini pill to help me with my hormonal mood swings as well as provide a method of contraception (currently on no contraception).

I have arranged a follow up appointment with the GP in a few weeks as she told me to think about it. So I am going to do that and just wondered what your experiences of being on the mini pill were like?

I know you take it back to back and it can stop periods but I do need to do my research. I have been thinking about getting the coil now for a while but the mini pill may be less invasive.

I use it as contraception and it has been fine. No periods and not other real symptoms.

I use it for contraception. I do get periods on mine. They are not light but very regular. The pillsuits me so well this doesn't bother me though. I did have a coil but find that the mini pill manages my migraines better.

Me personally, it didn't stop my periods or ovulation (it does prevent pregnancy without stopping ovulation), so the lack of periods or hormonal changes weren't really a thing for me.

My impression was that the combined pill was better for hormonal issues as it has both hormones in it rather than just progesterone, but I suppose it depends what you need.

There is no harm in trying if you don't mind taking a daily pill and you can be on top of it.

I have a GP appointment to discuss the mini pill later today so any more advice / experience would be grateful!

It worked great for me for about 6months. Following that i had bleeding regularly, not loads but often and unpredictable.

I tried Cerazette and didn’t get on with it at all, very low mood and short tempered all the time. Then went on to Noriday which was fine, a bit of breakthrough bleeding initially but that soon resolved. It did have an effect on my skin though just to warn you. The spots were what made me stop in the end.

hormonal mood swings
yes, I'm on cerazette and it helped with this. Life-changer!

Been on it years and no problems whatsoever. Bonus is no periods so win win.
