Toddler smelly wee

My dd 17 months has been acting very very irritable the last few days. We have just had a new baby so we've put the behaviour change down to that but I've just changed her nappy and her wee absolutely stinks, like old man urine ! Now I'm thinking could it be a uti? I know they can have mood swings with these but she has no other signs, no temp or anything like that.
I've stuffed some cotton wool in her nappy hoping to get a sample but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same with their dd with just stinky wee no temps ?
Thanks

Urine infection and maybe dehydrated?

Yep sounds like a UTI bless her.

No full experience of this but just to check is she drinking enough? My DD drinks for England, to the point I've had her checked 3 times for diabetes! The only time I've noticed smelly wee with her was when she had a bad sickness bug so was refusing to drink. I also notice it a little bit when she's had a full day at nursery as for some reason she doesn't drink near to anything there. I would call GP though as it could be a water infection, it's probably like us in that you don't really feel poorly until it's bad. X

She could drink more I guess but she never had been a big drinker, but I do think she had enough fluids, always walks around sipping from her cup, has yogurts, broccoli etc so I think she also gets some from her food intake. But yes I will call go and hopefully will have enough urine for a sample to dip.
I just thought she might be showing more signs of being poorly with it if it is that

Ah yeah if she's drinking the normal amount for her then does sound more like UTI. Give them a call hopefully they can get you in quickly for her x

Just to update, doctor thinks thrush. Has given some cream to use.
She did have some thick white discharge around there so maybe it is, and she has been grabbing when we change a nappy so maybe it was itching !! Poor thing feel bad I didn't notice sooner. Still don't see how thrush could cause really stinky wee though, it's like a men's urinal !!

Hi me again. Dd has now got a low grade temp. Still very clingy and doesn't look well today. She's currently asleep on dh.
My question is does a dip stick definitely pick up utis ??
I'm going to try and get another urine sample and get the gps to send it off to the lab to see if anything grows.
Her urine doesn't stink anymore but the temp is concerning me.
She has been waking up at night and is extremely irritable
