Menu advice

I am cooking a meal for friends this evening. It’s not formal but the friends are foodies and always do really good menus. I can’t decide what to go with the main dishes.

I am making roast cod with a herb crust and to go with it a kind of warm salad of cavali nero with sweet potatoes, red cabbage and red onions. I bought some nice taste the difference small potatoes to go with it but now realise two types of potatoes might be too much. My question is, would nice bread be a good accompaniment? There will be some herby sauce from the fish and a tahini dressing from the salad so bread kind of makes sense but I am wondering if that makes it too much like a lunch meal. Rice would maybe be good but hate making it at dinner parties in case it goes wrong.

So, bread, rice or potatoes? Or something else?

Bread sounds great!

Definitely bread. You don't need potatoes or rice with sweet potatoes but some nice bread and good proper butter would be lovely
