Which job?

I'm struggling to decide wether to take up the offer of a new job.

My current role is better paid (unsociable hours, higher grade) but very stressful. I see my family less, go to work when my children are still asleep and when I get home they're already in bed. There just aren't enough hours in the day in this job, constantly chasing my tail and have had very little support to take on the extra duties that are expected of me. The team are nice but I have worked in nicer environments and gotten on better with other teams. Huge expectations, no time. I'm very very flat on my days off and the pressures weigh heavily on me.

'New job' is much better hours, I would be home for bed time however less pay and far less unsociable hours. I've been told there are many opportunities to progress back into the salary that I am currently on and many funded opportunities to do further study and I know I would get much more time to actually fulfill the role and study! One con is that I would have to buy a new car as it involves a lot of travel. I do plan on having more family in the near future so not sure if it is a wise time to make a move but also don't want to let the opportunity pass me by.

Thoughts?

I’m usually a ‘better the devil you know’, risk averse kind of person, but your children are only young once are it sounds as if you are missing huge chunks of their life. That makes the new job a lot more attractive imo.
