Fun place for lunch with kids in London?

We are going to see a matinee performance of Frozen the Musical during the school holidays. Would love to make the day extra special by taking two 5 year old girls for a lovely lunch somewhere child friendly - or themed if possible.

Any suggestions very welcome, thanks!

Have you been to the rainforest cafe? Ideal for kids!

You will love frozen 🩵

I took DD5 to Franky and Bennys when we went to see Frozen. She loved it.

Bill's is good too.

Both in Covent Garden.

Soho breakfast cafe is amazing, usually queues but if you all like eggs. Not themed but chilled, child welcoming.

I would take them to Chinatown for dim sum. That was DD's favourite at that sort of age. Or My Old Dutch in Holborn for pancakes.

Expensive but the Ampersand Hotel do themed afternoon teas for children, we did a science theme one for a special occasion which was fab!

Following for ideas!

The afternoon tea at The Ampersand is AMAZING so I'd second @shugarsuz on that one.

Otherwise Amorino or Milk Train in Covent Garden for a special ice cream!

That’s long gone

Also highly recommend the science afternoon tea at the Ampersand. It's targeted at kids but actual decent food and really well thought out 'experiments' to keep them engaged and entertained.

Peggy Porschen's is lovely. They have them in Chelsea and Belgravia. Quite pricey but definitely worth it. You can find them on Instagram x

Thanks everyone, some great ideas to Google here!

Really looking forward to it, realising the show closes in September prompted us to book. Then we thought, why not try and make the day extra special - it's a once in a blue moon treat Smile

My DD likes EL&N. Very Instagrammable, but for me, no substance.

I was also going to suggest My old Dutch for pancakes.

Milk Train is a favourite with kids, but for ice cream / milkshakes rather than lunch.

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/02/2024 12:20

The new Hello Kitty cafe (have no idea if it's good or not but all over instagram!).

DS always loved the markets and pottering, choosing various bits. Camden. Borough Market etc. He also loved China Town.

Inamo is fun if they like sushi, the tables are like giant tablets with lots of games to play, my kids love it.

Agree with this. Looks DS last year to the one in Covent garden but there are others around London too.

I’m not sure what it’s like during the hols as we went on Monday which was an inset for us, but I highly recommend the Brewdog restaurant in Waterloo. The food was amazing, there is a giant slide for kids (and adults I’d imagine!) down 2 stories, 3 bowling alleys and the kids meals were excellent. £8 for a really good burger, fries, a drink and an ice cream from an actual ice cream truck on the top floor. What a brilliant afternoon that was!

LostCats · 21/02/2024 12:55

ive never heard of the Ampersand. That looks amazing! Scientist DH and science loving DD will love it

ginandoreos · 23/02/2024 19:40

Brilliant, lots of ideas here - perhaps we will do a couple of trips! Thanks all.
