Please help me SLEEP

I'm on my knees.

I'm falling asleep around midnight/1am and waking at 3am. And then I cannot get back to sleep. I averaged about 10-13 hours sleep in total for the whole of last week!

This morning I actually slept till 5 but I think the rest of the nights not sleeping has caught up with me. And I feel broken today, and I'm working a night shift tonight 😩😩

High strength magnesium. White noise/earplugs.
Occasionally, in desperation, I have taken co-codamol once woken and unable to get back to sleep.

Have a sleep routine. No phone or gaming for a couple of hours before bed, keep everything low key. Have a bath, milky drink. Take magnesium. Go to bed earlier than you have been doing and maybe read a book. Don't do the co-codamol thing as it's addictive and will probably constipate you. There are some otc antihistamines which make you drowsy. You could try those. Or Valerian, which is herbal.

If you wake up in the night, again no phone, but try getting up and making a hot drink. Go back to bed when you feel more rested. If you've got things on your mind, write them down to "download" them.

If none of this works then speak to your GP. They prescribe a short course of sleeping pills to try to break the cycle and get you some rest.

I've had supermarket own brand 375mg tablets in the past. I'm not taking them at the moment.
