I’m fighting a bit of a low mood just now, and consciously trying to see the positive things in life just now, please let me share in yours!

mine is that a DIY job I started last week is turning out better than I thought it might

Just had a very good haircut - for under £30!!

cabbageandgravy · 20/02/2024 17:14

And so nice to hear you had a good trip to London @HowDoYouSolveAProblemLikeMyRear . I used to be absolutely made up when people complimented my children, so I try to do the same myself, now it's me at "granny age".

SantaBarbaraMonica · 20/02/2024 17:16

I just tidied my bedroom. Was in a funk. Broke lent in every way possible. And couldn’t figure out what to do to feel useful. One little thing achieved has lifted my mood massively!

Also booked both flights and accommodation for a steal for next Feb half term! Can’t believe it.

HateItWhenABitchLetsHimselfSlide · 20/02/2024 17:17

Found a cough medicine that actually works!

Started binge-watching Law and Order SVU, (I'm in love with Olivia Benson now).

Deadringer · 20/02/2024 17:17

I am lazy but I forced myself to go for a walk today and I enjoyed it. Also got the beds stripped and all the bedding washed and line dried. Spring has sprung I think.

Cherrysoup · 20/02/2024 17:19

Bought trousers for my future slimmer self and they fit! Delighted.

fivetriangulartrees · 20/02/2024 17:20

On Thursday, sunrise is at 7am round here for the first time this year. It's a completely arbitrary milestone but I'm actively looking forward to it. It will be uplifting to have lighter mornings. Also, porridge. I have (deliberately) lost a bit of weight in the last few weeks and a side effect is that I have become very excited about getting up for breakfast in the mornings.

LBOCS2 · 20/02/2024 17:56

It's still light at 5.30 when I leave my desk to get the DC from after school club. Only just - but it's going to get lighter and lighter in the coming weeks :)

Also, I did a piece of DIY today that I've been putting off for about 4 years. It took me 7 minutes 🙄😁

Lifebeganat50 · 20/02/2024 18:50

AmaryllisChorus · 20/02/2024 15:50

I want you to come and live with me. What are your rates? Grin

I’d do it for free! I love a good sort out and organise (totally a mental health control freak dry thing!)

@LBOCS2 that’s usually my way too-jobs that take 6 months and 10 minutes-why do we do it to ourselves??

@Ikeatears I’m sorry to hear that things have been rough, but you can never underestimate the power of human contact from a hug!

thank you all for sharing. It really is the little things that can give you a lift…it’s been a bit grey and gritty where I am today but I’m still hugely appreciative of it not getting dark at 3pm now!

I watched the school choir rehearsal today. So cute!

I used to work night shifts and always took note of the first morning when I didn’t need my headlights on driving home! Made such a difference

I've crocheted a frog and an alien. They have made me happy.

FizzyStream · 20/02/2024 19:06

I went for a walk at the weekend and saw daffodils (not in flower yet obvs) on the grass verge and know lighter days are on the way 😊

merryandbrightdelight · 20/02/2024 19:28

I'm doing a qualification and have put off looking at my resubmissions until I had to choice today because the due date is Thursday. Looked at them and they were a lot easier than I thought! Completed and submitted them, and I have had them passed by my assessor. This has made me feel very happy and has calmed my anxiety massively!

RaraRachael · 20/02/2024 19:46

A sweet little video from my 18 mo grandson, despite him not being well with tonsilitis. I wanted to give him a big hug but he's too far away to just pop over.

Ikeatears · 20/02/2024 21:09

@AmaryllisChorus Trust me, you don't not want me to live with you, that cupboard held 4 years worth of doom. The only reason it was 4 years worth and not 22 years worth is because I had a new kitchen 4 years ago...
Look how pretty it is though...

A walk on the beach with my 15yo DS, he's revising and was fed up. We had a walk, a chat, and an ice cream. Twas lovely (and rare)

Lifebeganat50 · 20/02/2024 21:52

@Ikeatears its very very prettiful 😍

@gingercat02 you have to grab those moments!

There's a security guard at work who always gives me the biggest smile when I arrive and leave site. Instantly cheers me up. He's the best.

Any chance of a pic. I love crochet.😍

KeepSmiling89 · 21/02/2024 10:43

Leaving work between 4.30 and 5pm and it's still light out😀

I'm working from a different base this morning so went to the wee cafe for a hot chocolate - it's bloody delicious!

ZippyT · 21/02/2024 15:00

I'm in hospital at the moment and there are beautiful massive daffodils right outside my window. Makes me happy to look out at them all the time.

girlfriend44 · 21/02/2024 16:22

Booked a weekend break.

I've been tracking hours outdoors with the children, assuming to reach 1000 hours each year. We've reached 125 already, which I'm really pleased with. And it's improved my mental health and their behaviour.

Today we left my comfort zone of the countryside and went to the National Portrait Gallery. It was uplifting to just gaze at such beautiful art. And I was encouraged by how many people in London were friendly and offered to help carry the pram up stairs, or commented positively about the children. And so my first time taking 3 little ones to London was a success, and hardly stressful at all!

I just love this. It really made me happy to read it.

Mine was sitting in the sun watching the sea and feeling suddenly that all life’s little cares are pretty insignificant really in the big scheme of things. I watched a windsurfer battling the waves and felt so admiring that they managed to stay up. I felt happy for the first time in a long while.

Lifebeganat50 · 22/02/2024 13:03

It’s a beautiful sunny (although still cold) fresh day today so I have 3 loads of washing on the line, and this makes me way happier than it should!
