Pippa Middleton, figure is due to her background & childhood habits & lifestyle

So many threads this week about Pippa Middleton's figure. But does anyone think it's just due to her background. She grew up playing multiple sports in a private school & her family are also sporty & slim.
Pippa did all sorts of sports athletics, hockey, swimming, triathlon, skiing, lacrosse, tennis, netbalp, basketball, rowing.. And excelled in all of them like her big sister. Of course she's going to look amazing.
It's very rare to see an overweight kid in the private schools in my area. They spend lots of time on sports.

I'd say it's a mix of genes, background and current lifestyle.

metsss · 19/02/2024 20:59

She looks athletic and healthy but I don't find her body attractive

HelloMiss · 19/02/2024 20:59

So just boils down to being active

Which s as by one can be

Downwarddog2 · 19/02/2024 21:04

I think it was a cultural thing for the Middletons though. Sport is a huge thing in private schools like Marlborough. It's not even being active, it's the type of activity they do. Pippa's husband James appears to be very sporty too.

I hated sports, except tennis and the javelin, I did everything to get out of it. I must have had my period or ear ache every week when swimming came round. So private school didn't make me sporty.

It's down to genetics more than anything, Kate has the same figure but slightly less masculine. I also think both of them diet though.

Lightnose · 19/02/2024 21:08

IMO it's far more lifestyle than genes.

Me and DSis and our mum all have essentially the same body shape. I've been very fit and active all my adult life and have always had this figure. Mum was dumpy as a child/young mother, but became much more active once she got the young children stage out of the way and is now slim, DSis put on loads of weight as a student, but most of her life has been like me.

TulipCat · 19/02/2024 21:08

Well yes, just like everyone else really. Wealth = health, especially during childhood.

Fizbosshoes · 19/02/2024 21:22

I agree they are probably lucky with genes but also enjoy and are good at, a variety of sports, and eat healthily. (And she probably has more leisure time than most to exercise)

It's obviously not just about being active, lots of people are, but most people (in RL rather than MN ) dont look like the Middletons. I run 5 times a week, walk whenever possible, take stairs etc etc and I look nothing like that! (I'm probably a foot shorter which doesn't help! )

LizzieSiddal · 19/02/2024 21:27

I agree entirely with you OP. Private school children have many more hours of PE than non private, it makes a huge difference.

PM take apart in triathlons, she’s incredibly fit and will eat healthy food all made from scratch.
I saw people on another thread saying she must starve herself, but I think that’s absolutely incorrect.

Downwarddog2 · 19/02/2024 21:45

@LizzieSiddal yep I bet Pippa eats very well. She looks incredibly healthy & energetic. Herself & her sisters got the very best start in life & had a very active, outdoorsy education & homelife.

Grandmasswag · 19/02/2024 21:48

Well obviously. What on earth is the fuss? She’s just a slim well toned woman. There are loads of them.

MeinKraft · 19/02/2024 21:57

Why is there another thread about this?!

GoldenMeadow · 19/02/2024 21:58

It looks like she does weights and a lot of cardio. Clearly she puts a big emphasis on fitness.

Genes only go so far imo. She could be overweight as easily as the next person..

To look like her, you need discipline and lot of time to spend working out and focussing on healthy eating at all times. Her privileged life affords her that opportunity.

Touty · 19/02/2024 21:58

Genes and money to buy healthy nutritious food.

Calicobritches · 19/02/2024 22:04

It’s a mix of things isn’t it? You could have all the money and baby sitters in the world and still not have the discipline to put the work in. Equally many parents who are working shifts doing minimum wage jobs don’t ever get the chance to spend time on themselves.

Prydddan · 19/02/2024 22:05

Genes. Read some Gary Taubes on metabolysm.

xsquared · 19/02/2024 22:05

It may help and make it easier, but you don't need to be privileged to exercise and eat well.

Comedycook · 19/02/2024 22:06

I went to private school and fucking hated PE

Paninaro94 · 19/02/2024 22:06

Mainly genes, aided and abetted by lifestyle.

RampantIvy · 19/02/2024 22:10

Exercise, food and genes. She doesn't have a wasit and hips, so that will be her natural build. Even when I was younger and much fitter I would never have looked like her because I have always had a 12" difference between my waist and hips.

Winnipeggy · 19/02/2024 22:11

Why are we talking about why a perfectly normal, healthy woman looks normal and healthy?

CopperLion · 19/02/2024 22:18

Obviously wealth doesn’t hurt but I think she’s just a real sports lover who loves being active and keeps very fit. She has done all kinds of endurance challenges and you don’t do that kind of thing without eating a good diet. One of my best friends has a very similar body and she just can’t get enough of sports! Good for them I say.

TempleOfBloom · 19/02/2024 22:37

There are women in my S London gym with bodies like hers. Not posh, no ‘background’, no home chef etc. they just train every day and eat appropriately. It is their hobby, being fit / athletic, and they usually do it to support triathlons, swimming, cycling or whatever.

MsCactus · 19/02/2024 22:43

It's actually been shown in studies that there's no correlation between weight and exercise.

My brother was extremely sporty as a kid, he still does 3 hours of exercise a day as an adult (an hour cycle each day to work and goes to the gym over lunch every day). I barely left my bed or the sofa as a kid.

We were both always underweight, now as adults we're still both slim. Your weight is all about what you eat, not how much you exercise or how "sporty" you are. I know lots of sporty types who are overweight.

TedWilson · 19/02/2024 22:52

I just went to see what all the fuss was about as keep seeing threads on this. Stomach amazing. Legs amazing. Neck and arms - thats serious training. I don't think it's a class thing. It is a having hours to spend in the gym thing.
