Would you eat this or bin it?

You cooked a mincemeat, veg and rice dish on a Monday night. Had a portion for dinner on Tuesday and on Wednesday. It stayed in the fridge until Sunday morning at which point you froze the remaining two portions.

It needs to be binned doesn't it?

No i wouldn't unless froze same day or following morning after cooking

Combinedvakue · 19/02/2024 20:14

No, I'd eat it no problem. Stop with the food waste it's been in the fridge it will be fine.

SnappyDragony · 19/02/2024 20:14

Yes. Will probably be fine but food poisoning is nasty and unless you are absolutely 100% sure your fridge is below 4° I would still bin. In future stick to 3 days in fridge before freezing.

What do you think it's suddenly going to do to you?

inkworks273 · 19/02/2024 20:14

I would have binned it.

StrugglingWithItAll123 · 19/02/2024 20:15

I should have frozen it on Friday but I completely forgot

Silverbirchtwo · 19/02/2024 20:17

Just make sure you heat it red hot.

clockworklime · 19/02/2024 20:17

Rice is where you need to be cautious- I would bin it.

LampHat · 19/02/2024 20:17

Based on no science at all, I think I’d bin that 😕

Mince and rice can both be a bit dodgy, and a week after cooking is a long time. Gutted for you though OP!

What do you think it's suddenly going to do to you?

Food poisoning. Early freezing prevents bacteria from multiplying.

Lollypop701 · 19/02/2024 20:20

Honestly I’m quite easy going with food but I’d bin it

StrugglingWithItAll123 · 19/02/2024 20:24

Yeah I'm binning it. Gutted. Hate wasting food 😔

Me too, I'd bin this one op

Out of interest, what was the dish?

SnowsFalling · 19/02/2024 20:34

I'm pretty easy on food dates and storage, but rice and mince in the fridge for a week would be going in the bin, not the freezer.

StrugglingWithItAll123 · 19/02/2024 20:39

"Dirty rice" it's a really tasty dish. Definitely worth a google
