Does anyone have a Tripod dog?

My angel pooch has been diagnosed with cancer and has to have her front leg amputated. She is going in for surgery tomorrow. Very sad. The vet is optimistic about her chances and says most dogs recover fine. Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with a tripod dog? My partner is in the navy away at the moment helpfully of course, although he is back in two weeks.

We had a tripod collie, a rescue with no known history, but the vet guessed that her leg had been amputated early in life.

She managed very well and had about eight happy years (we didn’t know her age).
When she began to fail physically, it was obvious she was struggling and we knew we had to make the decision to let her go.
