Ds is 12 and apart from seeing Matilda the musical has never been interested in the theatre - until now! He said he’d like to go again.
What have you taken your dc of a similar age to that they’ve enjoyed?
I love the theatre and have seen quite a bit but mostly not suitable for that age group.
Ruling out the lion king, frozen and shrek the musical from the outset…

If you are London based I’d recommend the Polka Theatre https://polkatheatre.com/whats-on/ most shows are for kids under 10 but they have a 9-12+ category of shows and have a few on a year for this older age group. Tickets are WAY more reasonable than West End!

Polka Theatre - What's On

Find out what's on at Polka Children's Theatre. Show, workshops and events. There is something for everyone, with accessible performances suitable for all ages.

If you are based in London I might look at closer regional theatres

For £25 a year to be a Friend of our local theatre We get 50% off first night shows and even full price the top tier pricing is still cheaper than the cheapest when the show is in a West End theatre . You might get a wider selection of shows I stead of the West End long runners

It als worth mentioning Kids Week (actually the whole month of August) when children under 16 go half price to West End shows

If you go to Stratford, aim for a summer show so you can have a stroll on the river bank and maybe see some of the other things around the town, its a lovely day out
