Having a bit of a panic as dc has been complaining of aching limbs, is really tired all the time and has been falling asleep after school and he's lost weight.
Recent blood tests showed nothing except a vitamin d deficiency so now I'm thinking it's a dietary thing?
I've taken him off gluten and will call the gp for another appointment.
He doesn't get stomach cramps or issues with diarrhoea or constipation so I'm hoping it's an intolerance rather than coeliac?
He hasn't needed to sleep in the afternoon since he's been off gluten from yesterday.

No. I am a Coeliac. You have to have a special blood test. Your blood results might show up anaemia which is common in undiagnosed coeliac disease.

For coeliac disease to show up on the blood test, he’ll need to be eating gluten so get him to keep it in his diet till he’s been tested. Hope you get some answers so he can recover asap.

Thanks. Nothing for anaemia. They said they checked for that. I'd really like to see the results but they only telephoned and said they couldn't send them.

@Durdledore he was eating gluten then as I hadn't considered that. He loves his bread and eats it daily. He'd just had toast before his blood test.

@Durdledore oh sorry I misunderstood. I get what you're saying.

Ah good, I was wondering how to rephrase. 😅

Durdledore · 19/02/2024 01:07

I’m a coeliac too

Crackwillow · 19/02/2024 01:07

Ask the GP to check for Coeliac. It's a simple blood test. Keep feeding gluten.

No it’s a specific blood test you need and you need to be eating gluten beforehand so the test can do its job
