Mispronunciations

Do you ever just have a moment you realise you've been mispronouncing something a word..all your life? Just watching Pointless celebrities, and one of the contestants pointed to a pic called, 'Mangetout'. I've been calling it 'Mange-Tout!'. Thrilled to have found out there is no 'tout!'

An old school friend once shared that until she took part in a literature competition you pronounced, 'Ivanhoe', EVAN-HO-HEY! Grin

Ivan-oh-ay would be an approximate French pronunciation. I once saw part of the film when in France, some years ago, and that stuck with me.

As a child I used to get some words wrong as I’d only ever seen them written down. Albeit was all-bite in my head for the longest time.

@Meowandthen My friend would've been very happy to hear that.

Asphalt I thought it was apps - halt. Apparently it isn't.

The name Phoebe. Apparently it's not fo-bee

Might be a bit niche, but I've always pronounced bistable as bist-able.
