TikTok shop as a buyer..how does it work?

A friend has been raving about it, adm I’ve seen a few mentions on here too.

Im a seasoned Ebayer, and Vinted-er, both as a buyer and seller, is TikTok shop much the same?

I’m interested in this, worried about getting scammed.

It's not like EBay though. It's drop shipping basically. More like Temu or Amazon with sellers getting commission if you click on their link. That's my understanding anyway.

It’s fine, similar to eBay and Amazon. If a Tiktoker has a link on their video or page for a hairbrush and you buy through the link they get a commission. If you do a search in the search bar for ‘brand’ hairbrush, click on the tiktok shop button you’ll get loads of shops you can buy from.

edit to add what I meant by similar is you click on a product, add to cart, then purchase.

I've used it several times and it's been good. Some local small businesses sell on it which is great. Then a lot does come from China but to be fair it's the same products that you're paying 4x more for on amazon.

Just go direct to Temu as that's all they're selling.

Make sure you're actually buying from TikTok shop and not just via a link to another website as there's loads of scams like this.

TikTok shop is great though, just like buying from Amazon but usually a bit cheaper. I've bought loads of stuff and it's always been brilliant.

I've bought loads off TikTok shops! Clothes, sweets, cakes, cheese - never had an issue with anything. It's a bit like QVC for the kids! Although I'm more QVC age!

I ordered a dress yesterday that I'm excited about.

I do order from Temu for craft things but TT shops are great because you can see real people using/wearing them.
