is anyone seeing dodgy Alibaba ads?

I keep marking them as "this ad is not appropriate" and google keeps showing me a different version with similar images. I haven't been googling anything dodgy which would make them think I'm interested in this sort of stuff!

Image hidden as NSFW or children.

Oh my eyes... the horse! 😂

Anyway, no I'm not seeing these. Where are you seeing them?

MacaroonMacaron · 17/02/2024 11:16

right at the top of this page like a banner ad.

I have ad personalisation switched off on Google. So when you click on "why am I seeing this ad" it says

Why this ad?Ad personalisation is off. Google showed this ad based on general factors like:

  • The time of day
  • The website that you're on
  • Your general location (such as your country or city)

If ad personalisation is off, that's why you're seeing it despite not having looked at anything dodgy. It might take a while for ads notified as "inappropriate" are removed I guess?

No idea. I'm just wondering why Google thinks that people from Glasgow browsing MN on a Saturday morning are interested in those products.
