In for reduced movements and worried sick, anybody here to talk?

38 weeks and in for reduced movement. I usually feel the baby move a lot in the evening but tonight it's been much less, I know everything is probably fine but I'm worried sick and on my own 😭

Is anybody here to handhold and talk?

Ur wee baby is probably so strong and well developed that they're ready to be born!🤗🤗🤗, I have 5 sisters and 37 nephews and nieces. And three of my own. Honestly, that's the obvious explanation.🤗🤗

Have they done a CTG? It’s quite common to go in for reduced movements, both my babies had quieter days towards the end and were fine - definitely best to check though.

It sounds like you're in the right place. Have they hooked you up to the monitor so they can keep an eye on his heart rate?

SisterMichaelsHabit · 16/02/2024 22:51

@lingo1234 Sorry X post. That's really shit of them.

lingo1234 · 16/02/2024 22:52

@SisterMichaelsHabit Yep, maternity isn't great where I am. I understand they are stretched and understaffed but there really is no urgency whatsoever. I pray nothing is seriously wrong as the longer I sit here, the more time is being wasted.

If anything like my boy the week before he was born he had quiet times right up untill they put the monitor on my belly then he went wild x

What! Baby is still moving right, just smaller movements or less frequently?

lingo1234 · 16/02/2024 22:53

@Mummapenguin20 I am hoping thats the case here and I'm worried about absolutely nothing. I'm probably wasting everybody's time and it'll turn out to to be fine

lingo1234 · 16/02/2024 22:54

@Naptrappedmummy Much less frequently than usual which I told them on the phone

Handhold and big hugs here. I have no experience of this I’m afraid but I’m hoping lots of people will come on who have been there and can reassure you. Hopefully your beautiful baby is just showing you they’re ready to be born. 🌺

twotoddlersandanewborn · 16/02/2024 22:55

Big handhold ❤️ I am sure you will be seen very soon and I would chase if you aren't after 30 minutes xxxx

Hope you get seen to very soon.

lingo1234 · 16/02/2024 22:56

I honestly think it's crazy that they can't just quickly check for his heartbeat to make sure he's ok just for now 😭

Hope you get seen soon, don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and keep reminding them your there waiting.

Sausage77 · 16/02/2024 22:59

Big handhold here OP - I went through similar (baby was fine) and the midwives said it happens all the time and is almost always OK, but definitely best to check. Kick up a fuss to be seen if needed - you know better than anyone what feels normal for you and your baby. Best of luck 💐

Nori10 · 16/02/2024 23:00

Can you feel the baby, but just less? Honestly, if you're really worried you need to kick up a stink. I know that's hard to do if you're not that kind of person, but if they're making you wait, it's what you need to do. They need to minimum take you into a room and use a Doppler. Don't be afraid to speak up, to get emotional etc... they need to know the level of your worry and assess you in some way. I'm sorry this is happening. I went in for reduced movement 3/4 times towards the end of my pregnancy and it was so stressful. Everything was fine, but they induced me early to reassure me because I was so worried. I'm sure everything is fine, but you've done the best thing getting checked.

wishfulyf · 16/02/2024 23:00

Aww OP! Sending you a huge handhold! I was in for reduced movements a few times for my boy he is now 6 months! Sending you lots of love! When was the last time you felt movement? have you tried eating a snack, drinking something fizzy/ice cold, moving about, turning on side, poking belly? xxx

maeveiscurious · 16/02/2024 23:01

Thinking of you Flowers

FortofPud · 16/02/2024 23:02

Trust your instincts. That's not to say there's something terribly wrong, but you are correct that it needs taking seriously and checking properly. Stand at the desk and make a fuss if needs be.

lingo1234 · 16/02/2024 23:02

I've felt him move, but much much less than normal and even the movement feels different. I've tried the fizzy drink, poking him, moving about but nothing really changed
