Travel Pram

We’re looking for a travel pram that’ll go in the overhead lockers on a plane. In an ideal world I’d get the bugaboo butterfly or a babyzen yoyo but we’ve a wedding to pay for and I just can’t!

I’ve heard about kinderkraft nubi 2, kindercraft apino and a Hauck swift x that all come under £200; does anyone have one and can recommend (or not!) Also open to other suggestions!

We bought our daughter a Joolz pram when she had her first baby last November.
She has just been away to France and flew with Ryan Air, and the Joolz went in the overhead locker.
We bought it at Mamas & Papas
Daughter loves it.

I've never heard of a pram going in the overhead locker. That sounds quite dangerous to me.

They fold down to the size of a small wheely case and are usually lighter than one at around the 6/7kg mark

There are a lot of Babyzen Yoyo’s for sale second hand on Facebook! Worth a look. I have one and it’s very handy for travel. The Joolz Aer looks very similar though and is cheaper.

My daughter did choose the Babyzen Yoyo first of all but when we went to actually buy it the sales lady suggested the Joolz, as it is very similar to the Yoyo but a bit more up to date with a few more features. She herself had the Yoyo and could see the advantages of the Joolz over the Yoyo.
Don’t ask me what the updates are as I was just paying! 😂

We have the mamas and papas airo which fold down to the same size as the yoyo and definitely recommend it.
I would also recommend looking on market place for a second hand one as lots of people buy them just to use on holiday

@NoKnit not sure why you think it would be dangerous? They fit in the overhead lockers the same way any hand luggage does?

You take the baby out first 🤣🤣
have you looked on your local second hand site or put an “in search of” on one? They come up all the time on ours to buy or borrow.

I mean dangerous in the case of the overheadlocker flinging open and a pram tipping out poking someone in the eye or unfolding or something.

Mine are long out of the buggy but I just used to fold it and give it to staff to put in the hold. That is a lot safer.

NotFastButFurious · 19/02/2024 06:42

@NoKnit no more dangerous that anything else that goes in the overhead locker!!

Tatonka · 19/02/2024 06:48

If you're literally only using it for travel, surely just go for the cheapest? I actually used a travel pram as my only pram and it was amazing, and cheap. So easy to manuver and take anywhere

PurBal · 19/02/2024 07:05

@NoKnit How old are your children?!?! The YoYo has been around since 2012! It’s designed to be put in the overhead locker. Agree with PP that hand luggage is just as dangerous.

I’ve heard good things about the GB Pockit range but not tried personally. We have a Cybex Beezy as our main stroller and have taken it on the plane no problem even though it’s technically over the dimensions.

The taupe colour is reduced to £70 only the John Lewis website at the moment, if that helps

Sorry, just it's not the frame, just the soft bits

I got a YoYo2 second hand for £350 on a Facebook group. It's in great condition so worth a look if that's what you really want.

I've previously had an IckleBubba Globe which is a great budget alternative and also goes into the overhead locker.
