Biggest toddler pet peeves

All in light-heartedness

I adore my 2.3 year old toddler to pieces, but there are some things that drive me up the wall on a daily basis! I obviously wouldn't change him for the world, but some days i just think 'why?!!'

Like when we go on a walk that should take 10 minutes, and it ends up taking an hour and half because he found a pretty leaf, then a big rock, then a cool stick....

And also when he absolutely must put on his own shoes, even though he can't quite do it, so cue waiting 15 minutes while he struggles before letting me help him.

But hey, such is life. Are there any things that drive you up the wall but you plaster on a smile as your patience is tested to the limit? Please make me feel less guilty haha 😅

Haha lets see

  • refusal to get dressed, apart from one very specific pair of crocodile wellies and a witches hat (nappy included in the refusal)
  • refusal to eat breakfast or dinner anywhere but the sofa despite constant coaxing to table and being utterly angelic with childminder doing this.
  • Not letting anyone in the house wear reading glasses

Mine picked up a leaf every 2 steps and asked “what is this?” every single time. I had to look away and mutter “little bastard” under my breath 😂

My son gets annoyed if I give him something other than toast for breakfast. It's hell when we're out of bread because we ran out or it went mouldy early. He thinks that we have unlimited food in the kitchen and doesn't yet understand that things can run out.

He also refuses to try food, even if he's had it before and liked it. If I know it's something he's enjoyed before, I end up shoving it into his mouth to get him to taste it and remember that it's something he likes. He'll happily eat it after that. Or he refuses to eat from his plate but will eat from mine even if it's the same meal.

At the moment he loves to find socks and ask for me or my husband to put them on him, only for him to cry after and get us to remove the sock he originally wanted on his foot.

I love him, but damn is he confusing sometimes 😂
