He was feeling unwell after a walk, apparently.

Putin was always going to get him, I don't think anyone doubted it, but my stomach dropped when I just read it.

Sorry - I spent so long typing a longer comment then deleting it that another thread had appeared in the meantime.

Absolutely blatant, isn't it?

Lottij · 16/02/2024 11:59

Me and DH have talked so much about his reasons for leaving Germany and returning to Russia. He knew this was the likely outcome, but the opposition's cause was everything. He had to be inside Russia to fight for Russia.

I'm so sad for him and the people who loved him.

A very brave man indeed.

grandkk454 · 16/02/2024 12:04

Such sad news. Half hoping that it’s not true, his lawyers are traveling to the prison colony to confirm.

StellaOlivetti · 16/02/2024 12:05

I knew this would happen. That poor man. I don’t think I could have been that brave.

Munchyseeds2 · 16/02/2024 12:05

He knew he was a 'dead man walking'
Very brave man and very sad

grandkk454 · 16/02/2024 12:05

Is there another thread? Could you share the link, I can’t seem to find it. Thanks.

MintLindt · 16/02/2024 12:06

Absolutely tragic news. Such an incredibly brave man. I hope Putin rots in hell.

There isn't a long thread, just that someone had started one off. I try not to just repeat threads, that's all.

Tragic. Seemed like a fine and courageous man, who wanted real change.

No surprise though -- I guess it was always on the cards. Shame he couldn't have sought asylum somewhere before going to trial.

RIP.

Gloriosaford · 16/02/2024 12:09

Awful awful news ☹️😔

He could have. He was treated in Berlin after he was poisoned and could have stayed there. He made the choice to return to Russia knowing what it would mean. The very definition of bravery.

CatChant · 16/02/2024 12:11

Murdered.

He was a very brave man to return to Russia knowing the risks he faced. He really did walk back into a monster’s lair.

cerisepanther73 · 16/02/2024 12:16

Haven't heard about this before

But doesn't susprise me thinking 🤔 about it Putin and his power tenancles can spread susprisly wide and unexpected ways

Rember that Russian ex spy guy who drank a cup of poisonous tea 🍵 at Claridges and died soon after in London?

Another case a father ex spy and daughter from Wiltshire who's flat and a park bench had poisonous substance contaminated substanced on it

It's like something out of fictional Spy film Tinker Tailor film and The Icrepress Files 60s film with Michael Caine...

only thing this news is real .

Please don't worry, in this instance, about repeating threads. Everyone who can should be talking about this, the more we talk about it the better.
Putin cannot be allowed to get away with it. I'm not sure what needs to happen, but at least we can all say that it matters.
Thanks for starting the thread OP.

ItsallIeverwanted · 16/02/2024 12:18

To go back there, knowing what would happen. I couldn't do it. He was brave.

Pickledflavouredcrisps · 16/02/2024 12:19

He was a very brave man, he knew it would probably end like this and still went back as he wanted to fight from within

Itscatsallthewaydown · 16/02/2024 12:20

Now that the US looks like it’s going to turn its back on Ukraine, Putin is emboldened to do whatever he likes. Murderous bastard.

rowanrome · 16/02/2024 12:22

He was a very brave man. I thought when he left Germany how courageous he was.

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/02/2024 12:29

OMG how does Putin get away with this over and over again??

If anyone hasn't seen yet (I suspect most on this thread probably have) the documentary, Navalny, on Netflix is absolutely excellent.

He was a courageous man and his opposition is a stinking deranged psychopath.

Velvian · 16/02/2024 12:40

I'm really sad to hear this. I have huge admiration for him.

rainbowruthie · 16/02/2024 12:41

A man of great courage RIP

TiptoeTess · 16/02/2024 12:45

Fucking heinous and entirely unsurprising. He was a brave brave man.

spiderlight · 16/02/2024 12:48

Just awful. 'Suddenly unwell' my arse. His poor family 😞
