DD sick 2 days before half term - straight down a rabbit hole I go

DD (5) has just been sick all over her bedroom floor about 11:30pm. DH clears it up while I wash a few affected strands of DD's hair and then snuggle her in our bed. She conks out more or less straight away.

Lying in bed stroking her tummy. Duvet day for us tomorrow then, haven't had one of those for a while! Feeling thankful that other than a rearrangeable appointment, there's nothing I can't just drop tomorrow.

Then suddenly the thought occurs to me:
It's two days before half term and I have to call her in sick (even if she's fine tomorrow- school rules) - it might look like I'm just tagging a couple of days onto our half-term break!
It doesn't matter - we know the truth. We're doing the right thing by DD. We're also following the school rules. She's not had any time off before. They have no reason to think I'm making it up. Just be matter of fact about it - the more you try and sound like you're telling the truth, the more you'll sound like you're lying. Just tell them the truth! Besides, if they think that you're trying to get her off school under false pretenses - that's their error. Who cares if they think that?

Me. I care 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyone else have these random worries? What do you tell yourself to snap out of it and to stop being such a muppet?

As others say, illnesses tend to peak at the end of term, particularly in winter. My DD6 is off today as was complaining of a headache. She's just knackered!

Also, if attendance is usually very high, teachers won't bat an eyelid, they know which ones are "sick" and who is starting their holiday early!

Hope your DD is feeling much better soon.

My DS lost the whole last week of his Reception year to a sickness bug. Then DD got it the following week, first week of the summer holidays. Fun times!
It's fine - if your DD has it, it's likely other children will have it too. The sickness bug went round all classes at DCs school, including some of the teachers!

About 5% of dd's school were off with a stomach bug before half term. We avoided it (touch wood).
