Valentines Day set menu

Am I just cynical in thinking that restaurants do set menus for VD because it's easier and cheaper for them? They weren't any busier than any other night when they are full.

I don't want to be told what I'm eating. I don't want to pay for food I didn't choose.

I don't go out on VD for dinner partly for this reason

I think it’s so they can get more covers for the tables and it makes it a faster turn around. Fair play to them though as they know people go out for dinner so is a good night for them to make a lot of money.

Same as mothers day, fathers day, Christmas day and why I don't do it.

The restaurants need to make money so fair play to them but no, I wont be taking part.

A set menu for VD? - I'm old but that sounds like a mix of chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhoea.... Envy

Valentines day is such a pile of shit. I remember looking at a 6 top and genuinely wondering if I could sit a 2 at each end and bung a bunch of flowers in the middle to separate them.
Yes the set menu is more convenient and profitable, obviously. V day is shit - like a much much worse Xmas day. Only NYE is comparable in shitness. Everyone wants the same old shit as everyone else at the same time and when you have to deliver that on scale it all becomes canteem style and shit. Airplane food, hospital food and valentines day is much of a much ness. Go out the Sunday after and have a lovely hand prepared meal - not at 7.30/8pm and the man does not have to have steak and the woman chicken in a creamy sauce. Much much better 😂

YANBU. I've only ever been out for dinner a few times on Valentine's Day, but it was always disappointing.
