Mine was inspired by the poster who thought the ABBA song Fernando had the line "They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando" and though it was Lee Bertie who was someone special in their life 😄

My first name is actually Carrie, although very few people actually know that. I go by my middle name and have done since I was 12.

My username comes from an old song, it goes "Would you like to swing on a star, carry moonbeams home in a jar". I don't actually have a visual memory of my grandpa because I was so young when he died, but he used to sing it to me and, weirdly, I can still 'hear' it in his voice.

OolongTeaDrinker · 14/02/2024 19:53

I’m a long term poster but a regular name changer and that’s what I was drinking when I did my last name change :)

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2024 19:54

It's a partial quote from Blackadder: 'The Germans are a cruel race. Their operas last for six hours and they have no word for fluffy.'

Readingthedictionary · 14/02/2024 19:57

Prolific name changer being an impulsive but also a suspicious and safety conscious person.

I read books as well when the mood takes me.

Dying to change my username to Barold, based on an old thread.

I love this. Thanks

There isn't one.
I probably think I'm funnier than I actually am.

Au contraire Incomplete, I grinned when your name caught my eye 😁 I still do a little - how do I say - eyebrow tweak? of recognition when I spot you on here.

I used to like EatShitDerek and their posts. I imagined a whole backstory for that name.

Mine is two surnames that mean a lot to me.

TwigTheWonderKid · 14/02/2024 18:13

Mine's a bit of lyric from one of my favourite songs and which references the 60s model, Twiggy whom I was once as skinny as.

I recognised the song lyric but had no idea it referenced the model Twiggy.

I have multiple names. I just look at the name of whatever object is closest to me and change it around a bit if already taken. Nothing deeper than that.

Remember this as the theme tune from tv series Out of this World.

Diamondglintsonsnow · 14/02/2024 20:46

From a poem I read

gamerchick · 14/02/2024 20:49

I was lurking for a while after the death of handbag. Saw a thread I wanted to join in and just thought of something quickly.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/02/2024 20:50

Bitter experience.

ILoveSpoon · 14/02/2024 20:54

I was going to start a thread to ask if it's ok to lick the spoon after making cake. DH is an arse and won't let 3yo do it because it's raw egg.

I was going to show him the tirade of replies calling him an idiot, but I figured it had been asked squillions if times before so used Google to search and didn't bother.

Oh I hadn't heard of that before! I'm very old though.

RenoDakota · 14/02/2024 20:57

I love this song by the Magnetic Fields.

coldcallerbaiter · 14/02/2024 20:58

Unfortunately for cold callers, they end up putting the phone down on me in disgust….I string them along, for example telling them at the end of a longwinded set of instructions or questions, that I am an alien and my technology is incompatible with their puny human one.

Greentangerines · 14/02/2024 21:03

I love green tangerines🍊

SpiritOfEcstasy · 14/02/2024 21:04

It’s the name of the silver lady on the front of a Rolls Royce. Shrouded in scandal, it was commissioned by car collector Baron John Edward Scott-Montagu, who based the figure's likeness on his secretary-turned-mistress, believed to be Eleanor Thornton. My DH is a RR enthusiast.

StoatofDisarray · 14/02/2024 21:04

An in-joke from an obscure fandom, a terrible pun and a general description of my life.

ssd · 14/02/2024 21:06

"Sad Sweet Dreamer"

TheCadoganArms · 14/02/2024 21:06

It's my local pub.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/02/2024 21:08

I feel mine is pretty obvious but Bing Bunny is a little twat! I’ve had this username since DD1 used to traumatise me daily with the fucker!

Badknitter · 14/02/2024 21:08

Self explanatory 😁

FloydPepper · 14/02/2024 21:11

He’s the bass player from the band in the muppets

i play bass, and I can be a muppet sometimes…

Sosbanfachtheresatellyinmybath · 14/02/2024 21:11

My boy was singing these words to Sosban Fach in last years Eisteddfod 🤣
