EBay package delivered but missing item

Hi
I've just received an eBay order, sent via Royal Mail signed for second class. I wasn't in, but found the small packet had been out the the door without a signature.
The package is open and empty, so it looks suspiciously like it's been removed somewhere along the way. There's no note and I've checked eked outside in case the postie lobbed it somewhere as it didn't fit through.
So, I've messaged the seller to let them know, but I'm unsure how to formally raise it with eBay.
Do I log it as a return and tick the box that says missing pieces? When I googled, i found articles to say log it as item not as described, but I can't see where or how I do that.
Any advice much appreciated

Give the seller a chance to respond before you raise it as a problem with eBay.

Give the seller chance to respond before raising a case with eBay
Take a photo of the damaged packaging showing both inside and outside
You may have difficulty with a claim as you don't have an idea who's at fault but hopefully the seller will be understanding

Thanks, they've replied and have said the package is obviously at my house (which it is), but will look in to it.
It feels rather awkward, it's not their fault or mine, but I have a horrible feeling they must think I'm making it up. Fortunately it wasn't hugely expensive, a bottle of conditioner for £20, but its still not right that it's disappeared along the way
