I need to get a tablet

My work wants me to do some.courses and read some policies.

I could probably do some of it on my phone but the screen is small.
I have a laptop but that is big and cumbersome to take out every day.

I am thinking a tablet would be the best thing for my needs. It will be portable and I can take it with me in my bag. The screen would be larger than the phone and less hassle than a laptop.

I am looking online for tablets.

I narrowed my searches down to

  • Samsung Tab s9 fe (10.5 inch screen approx).
  • I like the tab s9 fe+ too because it has a larger screen of 12.5.

However I think at some point I will get a keyboard cover and checking on Amazon there is more accessories for the smaller tablet that I mentioned above and less for the s9 fe+.

Does that make sense.
I would like the larger screen but keyboards are much less for that size.

Another option for tablet I was looking at is the Lenovo p12 and there appears to be more accessories for that and it also has a large screen and more of a budget friendly option too.

Amy help would be great to help me pick and choose.

Basically I need a tablet for reading pages online. I would like an option to have the diveive read to me too. I am also required to do some courses too. There might be some assignments too but I can do that on the laptop.

Why aren’t they supplying the tablet if it’s work related?

I need to get some stuff done but it's on me to do in my own time.

I suppose a tablet will be for me for my own personal thing to help me with the goals of achieving what they want me to do.

I could do it on my phone or laptop at home but a tablet would be the best option for me.

It's not exactly work stuff but they need me to do some courses.

If they "need" you to do the courses then it IS work stuff. And you shouldn't be expected to do it on a personal phone or laptop either.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 14/02/2024 14:08

So the assumption is you fund the IT equipment for work related stuff?

Everyone l know has a work laptop. Given to them by their employer to do work on.

I work in the care industry and I am required to update courses. There was nothing from my place of work about providing devices.

I am required to do these and do them in my own time with my own devices. Some of these courses are external to the company.

I have to do these courses one way or another.

I can either do them on my mobile phone or use my laptop but to be honest these options don't meet my needs. The laptop is too big. My phone screen is about 6.5 inch and it's ok but it won't be suitable. A tablet is something that will meet my needs in the middle. It will have a bigger screen and be more portable.

My partner has the Samsung tab and it’s brilliant. Only issue is we found it quite hard to find a durable cover for it, we tried a few but they were flimsy and didnt offer much protection but the tablet it’s self is good.

I work for a franchise and we need to do e-learning at home.
No equipment supplied.

The Samsung one is my favourite from reading and looking at them. From searching online that's what I find - the covers are limited. I will need to get a cover. I don't like the price point of the Samsung but I did find a deal on one.

I am leaning in towards the Lenovo p12 because it has a better price and I think more accessories.

That's it. I don't have any equipment supplied.

A tablet is going to meet my needs the most. Even I find the laptop at home usually has its own place. A tablet, I will be able to take it anywhere.

Does anyone know what the Lenovo p12 battery is like. If the battery is rubbish I might invest in the Samsung.

Unless if anyone else has any other recommendations for a tablet.

Ok I got my hands on a 12.5 inch laptop that has a screen of approx 11 inch. I tried to hold it in one hand and I could do it but it wasn't very comfortable.

Originally I thought I would like a large screen tablet but I think I can reduce my wants to about 11 inch tablet and I think it would be more than enough in.

I think if I get bigger, it might be more prone to dropping.
