Adding straps to dress?

Anyone got any thoughts on whether this would work?
DD has a dress which is lovely but she’s having a wobble about the style as it’s strapless.
Would it work for me to just add satin ribbon straps, or will this look appalling? I’m not sure how wide exactly, but thinking pretty thin.

Yes, it should be fairly straightforward if you have basic sewing skills. I have done this on occasion. Sometimes I use satin ribbon, or gathered tulle. Depends on the dress! You need to think about the width of the straps - to balance the rest of the dress. I have also added straps with poppers on the inside so they can be removable...

Great. Poppers are a good idea in case she changes her mind. Thanks!

I've done it with a couple of dresses and tops - not a fan of strapless on me! It worked well as long as I measured and pinned carefully.
