Are SSRIs any good for OCD only?

I am quite bad at the moment. But there are periods in my life where I'm totally fine. I'm aware that SSRIs are prescribed almost automatically for anything like this and don't want to take something that a) might make me worse while I adjust b) won't really help the issue. I'm not sure how they will specifically help with OCD symptoms, though I understand why they're prescribed for depression. Just wondered if anybody had used any medication successfully for OCD?

I take an SSRI for an anxiety disorder with pure ocd. It definitely shortens the length of time I have a blip for.

Thanks I'm not sure why I feel so resistant

@BrainMog it is really scary to start an SSRI. there are lots of horror stories (and unfortunately they are true).

I had to try a couple of different ones to get the right med for me, as the initial side effects can be brutal.

Good luck in what ever you choose x
