Is your living room at the front or back of the house?

I’m just curious to see what’s more common.

Living room and kitchen at the front

Bedrooms at the back

Bungalow.

We have a small 3rd bedroom which we use as a dining room/ walk through into sun lounge and garden.

Bedrooms on the back are dark (no street lights) and quiet.

I can be nosy and watch the street when in the kitchen.

Sitting room at the front of house and kitchen at back.

Back originally but it made extending a nightmare. It now part of the family room/kitchen. The old dinning room, utility and a small extension is the snug.

Living room at the front which faces north, so it stays cooler in summer. From one corner on the sofa I can see people coming up the drive and watch the birds on the bird feeders.

Dining room in the middle and sunny kitchen at the back with a view of the garden. That's nice too but I do like watching people go past - a surprising number and usually the same ones, so I say "Hmm, there's that Santa Claus chap again [huge white beard], coming back with his newspaper. Nice to see him looking spry." etc

Mine is at the front.

I worked with a woman who had her kitchen at the front - she was the first person I'd known with a kitchen overlooking the main road. I found it so odd!

I would say at the back, but Dh would say it’s the front. It’s around the back side of the house from the drive, looking out over the back garden, but because we come in the kitchen door on that side of the house, Dh considers it ‘the front’. 🙄 He also considers the side of his mum’s house (his family home he grew up in) that faces into the fenced back garden to be ‘the front’ even though the actual front door that everyone uses is on the other side of the house coming directly from the drive (that’s the back apparently, even though it’s clearly the front door at the front of the house facing the drive and road!).

Don’t get me started on this. It was a massive source of confusion when we first started dating. 🙄 I think he considers the nicest looking aspect of the house to be the ‘front’ regardless of if actually at the front or used as the main entrance or whatever.

Anyway, our lounge is at the back, since you asked. 😂

Back. Kitchens at front, diner and lounge at back. I like it that way. View of garden whilst in lounge( we have no front garden)

Living room at back, kitchen and dining room at front. I prefer it this way round as it's nice to have doors open to garden in summer and I like to nosey out of the kitchen window at the front while washing up or cooking 😀

OldTinHat · 13/02/2024 10:38

Front.

HorseAreBetterThanHumans · 13/02/2024 10:40

Firsttimebabymama · 13/02/2024 11:47

front, kitchen at back.

Franklin2000 · 13/02/2024 11:54

Was at the front, kitchen diner at the back. Now had a change round of dining room with sofa in it at the front then open plan kitchen/living room/family room whatever you want to call it at the back. South facing so lovely and warm.
