Anxiety sweat and odour

I first noticed my DD9 had body odour when she was 5 years old. We went to the GP who, after some testing, said that she was going through adrenal puberty, and that it is nothing to worry about. She had her bone age tested via X-ray etc, and I was reassured. They were very thorough and did an annual check up etc. DD is now 9, and so if she starts her actual puberty now it wouldn't be considered early. (She isn't showing any signs though).
However, when she gets anxious she gets smelly almost immediately. It's so strange, but it is quite a strong, grown up BO smell. She wears deodorant- but only a mild one suitable for children, and it's not an antiperspirant.
Does anyone have any experience of this? Can anyone recommend an antiperspirant for preteens?

Hopeful bump.

I was like this at your DD’s age. Two things:

  1. Use bar soap on pits and work up an excellent lather. Don’t use shower gel, it doesn’t work. Use a new flannel every time she washes.
  2. Sure antiperspirant maximum protection cream is really strong and works all day.

Side note: I am convinced my adrenaline/anxiety as a child was connected to neurodivergence. It can play havoc with your temperature regulation and nervous system.

@ProfessorPeppy thank you, that's is really useful. It's a strange thing because once the anxiety has passed the smell goes away. She isn't an anxious person, but she gets nervous before an exam or if she is reading in assembly for example.
I shall ask her to try bar soap and see if it helps. I'm as sure as I can be that she is NT, but I shall certainly keep an eye on that.
