Think I've got tonsillitis, rang GP bang on opening at 8am to get an engaged tone.
Phone finally connects at 8.04 and recorded voice tells me the queue is at capacity so call back later.

There has to be a better system than this. I've not slept properly for 3 days and feel bloody rotten 😭

Can you visit the local pharmacy?

Do they have an online consultation form? I never bother with the phone any more. Too frustrating. I got a call back the same day from using the online form which I wasn't expecting. Refused antibiotics for sinusitis though.

Then I got worse over the weekend with a raging fever and ended up calling 111 over the weekend who initially told me to go to a pharmacy which I already had done and then took 12 hours to call me back but the Dr did finally get me the antibiotics I needed.

I guess you can call 111 in hours as well if you can't get your GP. 111 also said that the Pharmacy could refer me to the Dr for antibiotics if they thought it was needed apparently

Pharmacist can give treatment for tonsillitis.

Contact your local pharmacist and see if they offer Pharmacy first - they will be able to assess your sore throat and prescribe where necessary.

It is Monday , it's always busy on a Monday . I avoid Monday at all costs .

If you can afford it online GPs are a godsend for this. Set up an account, you’ll have an appointment usually within a couple of hours. They then send the prescription if needed to your nominated pharmacy.

Pharmacy for tonsillitis. It mostly doesn't need treatment although it does make you feel crap.

I've had tonsillitis before and needed antibiotics to clear it, I've tried to treat it myself but even with painkillers every 2 hours and throat spray it's not getting any better.

And yes I know Mondays are busy, I'll tell my throat that for next time.

No need to see a gp. Go to the pharmacy and get antibiotics if ness

For god's sake I was only pointing out how busy Monday is there is no real need to get a sad-on about it .

Sorry if I was arsey, no sleep and lots of pain.
Anyway, finally saw doc and got antibiotics so hopefully it'll bugger off soon!
