Video experts : why would a video suddenly not play on TV?

Is it because the quality is so low our new tv don't pick it up

What format?

What's playing the video? Ie Firestick app, app built into TV, casting from phone, Dvd player etc. Or do you mean a VHS player?

How is the external device connected? HFMI, SCART, USB etc.

Ooh hello! It's a video tape, an old homepage recorded video tape in a vhs player.

You probably haven't connected it into the correct port. Newer tvs can also need a different wire

So VHS, what's the cable you're connecting between the video player and the TV?

@TwattingDog.. The video is definitely connected to the tv because some videos do play it's just some I know used to work on our older tv don't play now.

Right, but we need to know what type of connecting to know whether it's the right cable.....

You might be better to contact a local tv repair / aerial type company to come out in person to look at the set up.

Can you play a different tape now?

Are you sure the tape you want to play isn't damaged? Do the spindles turn and does the tape inside look ok, not twisted or deformed?
