How is your third? Did they just slot in?

Pregnant with our third (have a 4 and 2 year old) and got all sorts of thoughts whirling through my mind. One is, we’re crazy. Another is, how exciting.

😂😭

Thank you everyone, I would reply personally to them all but there’s so many! Thank you for your inputs, good and bad, I want to hear it all. I’ve spent all day quite anxious wondering whether this is the right choice for all parties. Do we have space? The mental capacity? Then I’m worrying about worrying, then I’m spiralling!

Mine are 5, 3, and almost 1.

Number three has fitted in like a dream. It's totally exhausting, especially at first! But they all adore each other. They now all love sharing a room and we plan to keep them together until the first hits puberty, then have the two girls in our second bedroom, and our son (middle child) in the box room.

Much easier adjustment than 0-1 or 1-2. Best of luck!

I have 5.

Number 3 has been my little angel, you'll be absolutely fine. I recommend baby wearing, so you can carry on with the current youngest one. I called them the three amigos when it was just the three of them. They are still really close now. Just remember, they don't stay young forever! They older they get, more independent they become x

@Lemonyzesty

I'm due in July so plenty time to freak out until then!

My two are also the best of friends, they play so well together and look out for each other. I know they'll adjust, cos that's what life is about, but I feel guilty making them.

I don't know how much of this is rational, and how much is projection from my own siblings, and how much is the hormones. But I flip flop regularly.

Same, I’m flipping and flopping regularly!

what’s the age gap going to be between yours? And do you know whether your third is a girl or boy or are you keeping it a surprise? X

Baby wearing is definitely high on my agenda! I did it with my second and thankfully he took to it like a dream. My eldest detested it 😩 Congratulations on 5, too! Supermum! I think I’ll stick at 3 but I commend you 🤣 We currently have 2 boys and much to everyone’s disbelief, I’d be absolutely chuffed with another boy. I feel like I kind of know what I’m doing with them

My third did slot in. She is 4 and then older sister at 12 and brother at 9. It is loud and abit crazy at times. They squabble as sometimes they don't want to play and other times they all play together. She is my little crazy one. She is super clever and has learnt off her siblings very quickly! She adores her older sister and is desperate to get her hands on her stuff all the time. My older 2 were sleeping in their own beds very early on and the 3rd one refuses to leave our bed and keeps returning in the night and she still screams when I call her a baby girl coz big girls sleep in their own bed. (I'm a big girl!) it's her world and we are living in it!

@Lemonyzesty We have three girls which is super handy as our flat isn’t big, we are saving hard to try get a house but you know yourself things always come up and savings go out the window😂

My third is a dream!

Middle child certainly made sure to make herself not fade into the background as soon as DC3 came though…

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 12/02/2024 20:00

Another one here whose dc2 went berserk when dc3 came along. Dc3 is an absolute delight and does just slot in with everything but we've had 6 years of hell with dc2.

BingoMarieHeeler · 12/02/2024 20:06

DC3 was born when older 2 were 4.5 and 7. She did just slot in in that she napped wherever she had to (mainly in baby carrier but car, cot when we could). I do feel bad that she’s had to go with the flow so much eg going out for school run then 90mins later going out again to collect from or take another child to a club. Hence we spend a lot of days just hanging out at home doing what she wants, so in that way I’m far more chilled (was diligently out every day without fail with the older 2).

She is a mix of the older 2, who are very different to each other. She is crazy like the middle child but has a real essence of the oldest child. She’s a perfect mix!

The older 2 absolutely love her! She’s nearly 2 and it’s been brilliant, I really really really wanted a third though for ages (big gap of will we/wont we; plus Covid making us hesisate!) and we’re completely done and vasectomied now and it just feels so brilliant that everyone is here and healthy, and we can get on with growing up now 🙌🏻

I thought I’d know what I was doing with my second boy and he would be exactly like his brother as he’s another boy….. nope he’s different in most ways 😄 DD is much more like DS1 in temperament so doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll know what you’re doing 😄 they do keep you on your toes! I would have been delighted with a 3rd boy though too, they are just divine 😍
