This is not a Troll post. I'm just genuinely intrigued. I've followed Malin for years. Over the past couple of years she's gone on a health and fitness journey and lost loads of weight and looks incredible and seems really happy! She's also moved house every couple of months. Most recently she's moved to what looks like a gigantic Georgian rental. The house is beautiful, with a beautiful garden too. But how does she afford it? The house must be costing at least £2.5k a month plus bills. I don't see Malin posting about any new work or books etc. She does get a lot of freebies, which she posts on her stories ALL the time! But from a full-time working mother of one, I'm so perplexed with how much she is earning through influencing to afford this lifestyle?

(Disclaimer: yes, I'm massively envious of her house. Yes, I realise Instagram doesn't paint a true picture. I'm not looking to become an influencer haha, I just want the intel behind how it all works)

I know of a micro influencer and she charged £500 for a post and asked to keep the product so it is lucrative. I also suspect there's a lot of credit cards and buying and returning stuff eg for try on posts.

I don't mind people making money as long as they are clear when they are being paid either with a clear tag in big type, not white on white and not hidden under other stuff or with a clear 'affiliate link' again not in the tiniest font imaginable.

I know a succeaful Influencer, have known her for years as she’s the daughter of a colleague. From her social media you would think she led an extremely privileged, wealthy life. In reality, she lives in a small terraced house in an inner city suburb.

She rents Air BnBs out for a night (midweek as it’s cheaper), films a shit load of content and then uploads it over a period of time to make it look like it’s her everyday life.

She makes out she goes to all these big events, the reality is she gets her parents to drive her there, takes a few pictures outside and posts saying it was the best night ever.

It’s a truly shallow, tragically embarrassing existence. She has over a million followers.

@Doseofreality gosh that seems a lot of work for little return. I just don't understand the huge house? Being cynical, I wonder if it is a property that's been on the market for ages and then they want someone to live there to show it off? I don't get it

Someone on tattle posted the companies house filibgs for Kat farmer / does my bum look 40 - she made £500k last year and it’s unclear whether that includes the value of all the stuff she was gifted (trips / jewellery / clothes). FYI it’s all public information so not as stalky as it sounds. Astonishing amount of cash though.

mumofoneanddone82 · 11/02/2024 16:21

@Vermin oh I just had a look. It seems she is a presenter and has a podcast too! But if you were taking home £500k a year why would you not buy a property? (Referring to Malin)

I don’t know who she is, I googled!
How would she get a mortgage based on influencer salary (if it includes payment in goods). I suspect the property is rented and she had many credit cards!

I was wondering the same about Lydia whatsername with the amazing hair and endless supply of Hermes handbags that often pops up on my IG. I don’t follow her, but she is beautiful and I just wondered how she can afford to jet around when her “job” is to play dress up.

good for her obviously, but it does seem a bit shallow.

did I say I love her beautiful hair? It always looks so clean and bouncy.
