Stupidly went out. Got drunk. Told people I work with a got cheated on. Then started to cry. Like a fool. I feel so stupid and embarrassed.

Don't worry about it. Control your drink intake in future and you'll be fine.

DRS1970 · 11/02/2024 17:19

As long as it doesn't evolve to more elaborate lies it will be fine. Probably best deny any memory of this event and blame it all on the alcohol.

OP didn't say they were lying, did they?

It’s not a lie. I was cheated on and he’s moved on.

Apologies, as you said you had acted stupidly I thought you meant you had lied. Otherwise I don't see what was stupid about it.

TheSnowyOwl · 11/02/2024 18:36

Go back into work with your head held high and limit your alcohol in future.

There was only 3 of us. I just regret saying it. I feel like it’s embarrassing.

He’s the one who should be embarrassed, not you. You’ve done nothing wrong.

Divebar2021 · 11/02/2024 18:45

Love. It’s not a proper work night out if someone’s not crying, snogging or fighting. Unless you’re 21 everyone will have been through these events. ( if it makes you feel better a few weeks ago there was a thread where someone got so hammered her colleague took her back to her home and the OPs DH refused to come and get her. She was throwing up all over the place.)

I just hate telling my business. I know it’ll soon be mentioned elsewhere so that just upsets me.

Why would it be mentioned elsewhere?

Its really not something to be embarrassed about

TummyTuckNameChange · 11/02/2024 19:05

My colleague told me on a night out that she was cheated on. We aren't close. I have never ever mentioned it again or told a single soul.

There are decent people out there

SuzieQ300 · 11/02/2024 20:09

Don't be embarrassed, your work mates will be sympathetic. Personally I'd like you more for sharing something with me and feeling like you could. Chin up.
