Can anyone help me figure out if this is food poisoning or a virus?

I've been unwell today but my husband and child are fine. When I say unwell, it's been horrendous.

Are there any main differences between food poisoning and a virus? I really don't want my child to get this. I am vegetarian and cannot think what I've eaten though. Possibly a bad scrambled egg?

Unfortunately virus usually takes 24 hours or so to show up in next person. It's just a horrid waiting game - sorry OP.

I think you’d know if an egg was bad?

I think it's far more likely to be a virus - there can be a longish incubation period but I also had one stomach bug before Christmas which DS brought home from school. He had one slightly dodgy tummy episode but it really hit me for six. It's not inevitable they'll pick it up though. I got proper noro from DS but DH never got ill despite all the vomit he'd had to clear up.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

When I had food poisoning I had the worst stomach cramps in addition to flu like symptoms.

And the trots.

Thankyou for your kind replies. It is a bit better already but got a pounding headache now. Horrible day!

Possibly salmonella from the egg if you weren't careful when cooking it. Or lots of food poisoning comes from salad/fruit/veg not properly washed.
